One thing for sure, Shaka could have had even more fun "cruising chicks" and playing in a band in Austin. Sixth Street, baby."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I just think it's hard to get over a loss like this.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostGeez. Come on, people. It is Tuesday already. Let's start talking about Texas.
I'm still bugged about it, and I don't usually hang on to that after Sunday or so.
It's not that we lost, it's that you felt like we completely dominated them on defense and still found a way to lose. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

We had 9 other successful punts in the game.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostAnd then? We punt.
Did you see how close they were to a block on that first punt? How much better warning did we need? And We weren't even close to getting that punt off, bobble or not.

Our defense was great the entire game, you run the ball, force them to use their final timeout and kick the ball away with 2 minutes left. Virginia did not have a single drive over 20 yards in the second half and they would have needed to go at leat 70 yards to take the lead.
It was a stupid decision, and frankly you can't justify it. Even Robert Anae admitted he was wrong, which he never does. Taysom was 12-37 up to that point, no reason to throw the football. What makes it even worse we did not substitute and we still had our full house backfield in the game. Which means 3 of our 5 receivers were running backs (lasike, Hine and Williams).
Everything about that play had disaster written all over it. Even if the ball falls harmlessly to the turf I still say its a bad call because you stop the clock and they save a timeout. It is common sense not to throw in that situation unless you have Brady or Manning at the helm. Even then its risky as the Broncos found out in the playoffs last year.*Banned*

I am convinced. Bad call.

My buddy and I discussed whether to be aggressive with a pass during the timeout before the play. We concluded that it would be nice to be aggressive and put the game away but that Taysom shouldn't be trusted throwing the ball. That was without the benefit of hindsight. Taysom's numbers were awful, previous drive notwithstanding.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostJust before that fateful drive, I openly hoped that Jamaal not even touch the ball, that Hill not throw the ball, that we kill some clock, then punt and rely on our D to win the game. True story.
Anae admits that it was a bad decision, not sure why anyone would have a problem with the criticism. There were plenty of folks who thought it was an unnecessary risk at the time. Hindsight isn't needed. Even if the pass had been completed, it was still an unnecessary risk, which is why it was a bad decision, I suppose.
EDIT: I just noticed that this debate is over and my 2 cents are unnecessary. Sorry for wasting board space.Last edited by wapiti; 09-03-2013, 03:39 PM.
