Wow. Pretty simple question. Was the committment to Stanford a rumor? It is a fact Bronco, at least it was reported to be, that Bronco will not pursue recruits who commit elsewhere?

I won't be smart assy about it and assume you thought I was before. I would really like to know if the committment thing was a rumor. I would also like to know if Bronco has changed his mind on going after recruits already committed.

If you don't know fine. You got off a great smart ass reply. Hopefull maybe someone else knows the answers to these questions.

I don't remember Bronco saying he wouldn't go after recruits that have already committed to other schools.

To answer your question yes he is still committed to Stanford. It is normal for a college kid to commit and still take trips to other schools. You are allowed 5 all expenses paid trips, why not take them all?

Thanks, I don't follow recruiting that closely anymore and why I could have misunderstood something. I thought in the past a couople of recruits either committed to us and then were going to take a trip or committed to another school and in those cases Bronco yanked their offer. I could be wrong.

Your original post said Bronco would not pursue recruits that had committed elsewhere. This post says if they commit to BYU and trip to another school he yanks their offer. That is two different things.

He has pulled offers in the past for commits shopping around. However I think that is more out of necessity as opposed to just being an asshole. If you have 3 kids and 1 scholarship You rate all of them fairly similar. One of them commits very early before the other 2, taking up the coveted scholarship. You stop recruiting the other two kids as you feel like that spot is now filled and you move on to other targets. Your commit starts getting attention from other schools and decides to look around. Do you wait until he makes up his mind and reconfirms his commitment? Or do you go after the other 2 that really want to be at BYU?

You won't see this same approach with the highly ranked players. BYU will recruit them until the end and play the game just like every other school.

There have been a couple of examples of kids who are committed to BYU who committed elsewhere and Bronco stopped recruiting them. But mostly the quote you are referencing was likely moreso something bandied about by stringpullers and then reinforced with an example like Kona Schwenke. However, it seems to me obvious that Bronco continues to recruit kids supposedly committed elsewhere if Bronco thinks the effort is worth it.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Yes, they are two different things and not in disagreement with each other.

I can say Joe had a blue shirt on in one post and in the next post say Joe had a blue shirt on and brown shoes, can't I?

              • So people are saying Mama is headed straight on a mission? Bit surprised by that.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

They are in disagreement. Does it make Bronco a hypocrite? Sure. But not recruiting a kid when he is committed to another school is completely different than pulling a commits offer because he visits another school.

I am in a hurry to get out of here to go to LA to watch the grandson in a baseball tournament. It is a comp team based in Utah County, but they have kids from SLC on the team too.

So maybe I am not speaking clearly or it is just the old age thing.

I am saying a kid committing to BYU and wanting to still go on recruiting trips and a kid committing to another team and wanting to still visit BYU are not the same thing. I thought in both of those instances Bronco pulls the schollie. Guess that isn't always the case and I am glad. Who knows we could win a recruit at the last minute.

I am not sure what the chances are we land him. But having Baby J here will definitely help.
CB chatter this morning is that he's out on UW and will pick between Fresno, Utah and BYU, and that it's believed BYU is the favorite. It would sure be great to add another talented receiver to the mix.

Guy Holliday tweeted that he has some big surprises come signing day. I think CB is assuming it is Blackmon but it could also be Dilosa.

It would really suck to lose him to schools like Fresno and Utah.

Apparently it's from an interview he did with a Ute correspondent. The guy interviewing said he thought BYU was the favorite.

Would he have 2 to play 2?

                              • JuJu and Mama supposed to be on campus at SC today. They both pushed their visits back until next week because of all-star games this weekend.

With Mama saying he will go directly on a mission and lots of talk about how he is pushing 400 and may need to drop lbs in any scenario, not sure what to make of this last minute change of plans.
