Recriiting matters. Assuming CJ is correct that BYU flips Uriah and keeps Warner here are things to notice:
1.) BYU will have had its best DL class in years. Nacua and Fuga are the first DL that BYU beat Utah head to head on in sometime. Takitaki and Uriah make it really good.
2.) The WR recruiting is a huge improvement. None are LDS and two are AA kids with likely some decent options other than BYU. We know Blackmon did and I assume Leslie could have as well.
3.) With Nacua Bronco has shown not to be as inflexible as the stringpullers want to claim whenever the name Schwenke is mentioned.
4.) I think this class incicates that this coaching staff is more mature than the last.
But results on the field matter and the good part is that evaluation shouldn't need many years as the offense should have the pieces needed next year to hum.
I don't know about recriiting, but recruiting does matter. We have beaten Utah, according to experts on this board, every year. Yet on the field not so good.
Recruiting has been hyped just about every year and yet top 10 or even top 25 finishes are few and far between.
Hearing these names is exciting for me. I am having fun hearing about these guys. I would like BYU to follow through on the hype. You know things like great future home schedules and competing for national championships. You will forgive me if I don't fall back into the expectations game.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I agree with your sentiments.
On paper, it appears the selection addressed some needs for next year. That may help Taysom stay healthy if the Oline improves. Last year's team wasn't awful but it under-performed because it lacked the right personnel in key places. That doesn't mean BYU won't miss some of the departing seniors, especially, Kyle, but this year, the recruiting optimism seems like a good thing. We got some players who can contribute next year. I am hopeful the team might step up.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.
See ya at BYU in three years Dude. Let Troy have the glory, while we get the men.

I am fairly certain that Utah was declared the winner last February. The PAC 12 had changed the tide forever.

I am very hopeful about next year. Relatively weak schedule. Returning athletic QB. Very good RB and what seems to be excellent pick ups at WR.
Defense I trust guys on here know what they are talking about with the DL and that was my worry.
Although hopeful, this staff hasn't proven to me they can convert what appears to be strength onto the field. While I can hope, my expectations won't be out of line.
