Ooh... good question. Who is the next Michigan of Texas? I say UTSA. Sure, they are new to the D1 scene, but give them time, and they will be a former power someday!

I expect to travel to Berkeley on November 29, hopeful for an outcome similar to BYU's previous outing there. We'll host a tailgate, which will likely consist of leftover turkey.

Any thoughts (from PAC or anyone else) on the best way to get tickets for the BYU/Cal game? I'm browsing ticket sites, but I'm wondering if the DDD method is feasible.

Unless Cal goes 7-4 or better in its first eleven games (the odds of which are slightly worse than those of SU and Sooner joining me for a pre-game temple sesh at Oakland) I expect there will be tix available at reasonable prices anytime prior to kickoff. However, one should at least consider going the BYU Alumni route, which a guy in our ward is heading up. To their credit, the sponsors are charging only $5 for the pregame tailgate eats, thereby atoning for their sins at the Stanford and SJS games in recent years; it wasn't that the prices were unfairly high at those games, but rather the lines were ridiculous and they ran out of food. Plus, BYU lost both, which won't happen this year. I'm hoping for a repeat, performed this time by either Hill, JSwag or whoever, of one of the most ridiculously enjoyable runs in BYU lore; I speak of the TD run against the Holmoe-led Bears when the Cal defenders essentially did a Red Sea impersonation as MacAsh ran long for a pre-halftime score. I don't remember who was coaching BYU at the time.

I'm considering going the Alumni route to save a little bother and to support my friend, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm also friends with some Bear Backers and could snag a couple of prime seats, but I hesitate to sit midfield among the few remaining Cal fans as I want not to be constrained from expressing my feelings throughout the game. Plus I'm tired to taking crap for a ballot proposition I didn't support in the first place.

Depending on game time, and whether anyone has any interest, I'd definitely consider hosting a pre-game soiree. But Cal is a 35-minute drive so that would need to be factored in.

Rounding up a group to go to the cal game as well. We are a 3 1/2 drive to Berkeley, so it is a bit of a commitment. But fear not, we will be there to represent well cougar nation and cougarstadium.com. So far we have 85 people going in our group alone. This includes 3 registered CS members. Not sure of the pre-game plans yet, but you can be assured it will involve some delicious Bay Area food stuffs. Can't wait.

We are going through the cal athletic dept. a guy in our group has arranged group tickets with them for various games for the last 3 years, so he assures us he will get us some good seats. They are fairly cheap through cal as well, going for $30 a pop for a group of 20 or more. Byu group rate was $45 I believe, which included pre-game festivities.
