With 9 teams, I'm assuming you're playing an eight-game round-robin. A Sixteen-team playoff requires four games. So that's 12 games. Currently there are thirteen games (Big East, Big XII) or fourteen games (Pac-12, Big Ten, SEC, ACC), so would your system have more than one or two non-conference games? If not, you lengthen the season.

My guiding principles when playing around with this stuff are: (1) The current conferences must be mostly preserved; (2) The season doesn't extend past the first week of January and doesn't start before Labor Day, roughly speaking; (3) Eliminate all voting and computers; and, (4) Any team left out of the system must have fair access to others during scheduling.

The school also gives the players gifts for making a bowl game. BYU usually gives the players $300 best buy gift cards.

The article quotes an NCAA figure stipulating that players can receive gifts equaling no more than $550 per player. Are the school gifts included with that?

Utah does the same. Hell, when I was a student-manager in '05 and '06, I got some nice Ute clothes and a pair of Nikes.

Too bad you aren't there this year to go to the Sun bowl. You might be able to pick up a. . . Helen of Troy Hair Dryer?

                        • VaTech has sold ~9k of their 17,500 allotment for the Orange Bowl.

The BCS can't even get their arbitrary selection procedures right.

that would be pretty impressive if VaTech sold 9k tickets to a game they weren't even playing in.

They are in the Sugar Bowl.

I think Christensen is a good coach, but Temple is a pretty good team.
