Utah State has been formally announced as a participant in the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise.

Good for them, and good for Gary Andersen.

I can't help but like Gary. He seems to have bought into Aggies football completely and has a normally lethargic fanbase really energized, not to mention his team. His weekly interviews on local sports radio are must listen to (when they bother to ask good questions). He's honest and open and you can tell he's a very good motivator.

I don't care for their fans but his coaching has to be acknowledged.

Way to go. I am proud of the Aggies! GA has done a lot of good up there under what has to be difficult circumstances.

Has the opponent been named yet?

No, but they will be from the MAC.

I don't understand why the Spud Bowl gets a MAC team. Never understood that fit when the MWC or C-USA would be a better fit. Anyway, sounds like their opponent will either be Ohio or Toledo.

For all those bowl games with stupid corporate sponsors, the "Famous Idaho Potato Bowl" is a cool fit for a sponsored name.

Lame thread title BO. Could have mingled in Capital One somehow. I expected more.

If it's my wildest fantasies, and they instituted a plus-one (or playoff) model, how would that work in terms of allotted bowl practices? Would they tell the four teams in a plus-one model to budget enough practices so they can use their allotment for the week of the title game, win or lose? Or would the two teams in the title game earn additional practices?

Okie State is only 33 points behind Bama in the coaches poll. The computers supposedy like Okie State, so depending on the Harris, Okie State still has a shot.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Jerry Palm's projections have Bama at #2 in the BCS rankings.

If you are going to do a plus-one model why not just turn it into a 1v4, 2v3, winners play, take out the controversy.

Right, because there would be no controversy in ranking the Top 4 teams right now.

Of course there would be, but its a lot less than the politics that would be going on to try and move teams around in a plus one model. And it would provide a natural progression to an 8 team playoff which is more than enough, if you aren't in the top 8 you don't really have an argument that you belong in a playoff.
