It really is amazing how much offense there is in college football now. Outside of the SEC, the best and fastest athletes are put on offense. And that's why the SEC has a schematic advantage when they have so much time to prepare for offenses.
I read this article a couple of days ago about how the SEC will only get more dominant over the next few years. It has me convinced that will be the case.

In all seriousness, this is why Utah will be competitive in the Pac-12. Outside of USC, and maybe Stanford, no other team emphasizes defense as much as Whittingham.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostIt really is amazing how much offense there is in college football now. GoDaddy.com Bowl (NIU and Arkansas State) tonight (as if everybody hasn't been looking forward to this one for weeks).
Kind of an interesting kickoff in this one. The NIU guy touched the kickoff while trying to field it at around the 15-yard line and it went into the end zone. Of course the rule is that he can still just down it in the end zone for a touchback since the ball traveled into the end zone on its own momentum. He tries to run it out of the end zone but is tackled in the end zone for a touchback (although he and the defenders seemed to think it would be a safety).
The dumb announcers don't know the rule and say he didn't touch the ball and then that he did touch the ball but the refs must have missed it. Never ceases to amaze me that guys who announce sports for a living often don't know the rules as well as most fans.
Interesting also that Gus Malzahn would take this Arkansas State job and leave being offensive coordinator at Auburn.

All the Texas teams in a bowl game won (TCU, UT, aTm, U of H, SMU and Baylor). Nice.

Despite my prediction in the other thread, I think LSU's special teams is so superior to Bama's, it will swing the deadlocked match-ups of O vs D on both sides. I think the Tide benefit from it being a re-match, but part of that advantage is minimized with LSU (probably) having a homefield advantage.
But I hope Utah gets there one day. I'd go regardless of price."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

My analysis is the same as yours. LSU has vastly superior special teams and it should be close otherwise. The Superdome will be crazy.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostDespite my prediction in the other thread, I think LSU's special teams is so superior to Bama's, it will swing the deadlocked match-ups of O vs D on both sides. Dislike the Jefferson fumbled snap immensely. Doubly dislike his doing anything other than cover it up.
Brad Wing is our MVP this season.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.
