While I disagree with this characterization, that's not the point I'm trying to make. The point is that is the only penalty that has any kind of effect IMO, and Coach is right: I take that every day and twice on Sunday. This is not a sufficient penalty at all. Two year death penalty is what I would have voted for.Originally posted by Katy Lied View Post1. What's he going to observe? Another coach molesting kids and no one doing anything about it? There is zero chance of that happening.
2. The compliance guy will turn into a Penn State fan in about 3 weeks.
This is just another power grab by the NCAA, expanding their presence to justify all that March Madness dough that they get.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

SC upperclassmen were allowed to transfer immediately, as well. Around 5 of them did. None of them accomplished anything at their new schools. There will be a lot of imternal pressure on these kids to stick around at PSU. Future recruits....story might be different, you are right.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostThat's an interesting and smart approach. It seems to me though that the advantage SC had in their case was that they were still the class of their conference. Oregon had been on the rise, as had Stanford, but still USC was head and shoulders above the rest of the conference/western half of the U.S. really. With Penn St, you at least have programs that have a ton of cache that will be going after these players, and now you've given them all the ammo they need to keep players away from Penn St. That's not to say they still won't sign studs, but I do think this has an impact. What incentive does a player have to pick Penn St. right now over Ohio St, Michigan or Wisconsin? Arguably, none.
I'm interested to see how many of the underclassmen decide to transfer. I think you'll see quite a few move.
If I am the new coach...obrien?....I am looking for a different job. What a horrible turn of events, although he had to know that sanctions might be coming when he took the job.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Again, why take money away from the victims? To me the fines should be imposed after all civil cases are resolved.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostSome sort of fund for child abuse awareness or prevention. PSU alum Brandon Noble: The NCAA is way of base, the penalty is unfair
He's not saying this in the same context as those that are outraged over the penalty.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

How soon do we get a 30 for 30 on this story/JoePa?"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
