I guess I am confused. Riley was a better QB, but Lark had a better arm and bigger body. I am trying to figure out how they weren't more equally recruited.

Thanks for taking it easy on me!

I'll go out on a limb and state that we can throw the officiating part out and I'd still win by a wide margin.

This is your problem, you throw bombs but do not back it up with anything of substance. You're M.O. is throing wild accusations about family members and other mumbo jumbo. Your biggest problem is that you've never arrived at the fact that the average member of this board generally has a bigger football IQ than your average CBer and that there are members here who are VERY knowledgeable period.

I have an idea! Why don't you transfer back to Cougarboard. I'm sure they would take you back and you wouldn't even have to sit a year!

        Clearly.

Have you ever considered that physical tools such as body size and arm strength are only one factor in evaluating a QB?

If you had read closely, you would have seen that Shaka admit that Lark's physical tools gave him better odds at developing into a good college QB than Riley. I think this past season has shown that Riley has some intangible qualities that have given him an edge as a QB.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

And you wonder why you come off as a dope. I'll give you a hint: It's the same reason why the NFL folks got insanely lathered up over Vince Young when in actuality a diminutive QB like Drew Brees is actually much better.

Everyone please note I have not called him a quitter or said I'm glad he's gone, and only said I think it's too bad he's transferring. I did go off on the source behind the comments about the relationship souring due to not trusting the coach due to play calling, but I suspect that source is the same source Heaps is referring to as getting bad advice from.

I'd wager, considering the stuff that hasn't yet been made public. that Bronco would let him come back.
I don't follow this stuff as much as you guys do (I really only pay attention to BYU), are there any cases where a kid has requested a scholarship release and announced a transfer, only to come back to the school?

Certainly seems like a bit of a circus, but I'd love to get him back. I've also always been curious about what the redshirt discussion between Bronco and Jake looked like. I've always said that if I'm him I'm asking for a guarantee that the RS doesn't come off, but that's not exactly something I can see Bronco promising.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

My name is nikuman, and I played and coached football too. I was in a state championship game even, an i was a starting left tackle, which we know is the most cerebral of the football positions. Also, I once officiated a basketball game. With those bona fides now established and beyond reproach, I want to say that I think LSU is overrated this year and would have lost to BYU if Lark had have started. So there.

We all know you linemen are the brilliant ones! Heck, you guys rock the Wonderlic! Besides, if you didn't make proper reads and get your calls right the QB would get pummeled into oblivion!

I bow at the greatness of Wasps! I was very close to having the privilege of becoming one.

I'm also curious. I think Bronco, considering the extenuating circumstances, might be willing to give such a guarantee.

I'm going to try and work up the stones to ask next time I get the chance.

                    • I would love to get Heaps back.

Man that is hilarious if he is looking for a school that will have a senior QB, has a solid QB tradition and history of putting QBs in the NFL, and no other decent QBs in the pipeline next year and thinks, "Hell, BYU is that team!"

I'm getting strong signals that Shaka is somehow involved with football, and perhaps may have even played the game before. Continue to watch closely to determine truth and/or accuracy to my hunches. Until then, don't f*&! with Shaka.

Dude, coaching 8th grade football does not qualify you as an expert. Its funny that you say I have no idea about the vast knowledge the members of this board have about football. Who nikuman and falafel? lol. Have any of you played at a level higher than high school? Homeschool football doesnt count. This is rich. Keep it coming fellas.

I have never played, coached, or officiated organized football at any level. My lack of football knowledge is a known known on this board.

And yet, even I understand how a QB is not measured solely on his physical skills.

                              • You guys are crazy. Lark coming out of high school was the superior quarterback and his offer list says so. What has happened since then who knows. But coming out of high school Lark was bigger, had a better arm, and was an all around better high school QB.

There is a reason Riley Nelson had one scholarship offer. Coaches don't offer based solely on potential. On top of that watch Rileys high school tapes he throws 90% screens and his receivers had tons of YAC.

He was and still is an athlete playing quarterback. He has definitely evolved but it was a no brainer after watching him and Lark who the better QB at that time was. 15 D-1 coaches agree with me.

(Oh and I know Tone Loc off the board what you are saying about Shaka should be directed towards him, he was a college athlete and knows more about football than just about everyone on here. I won't out anyone but trust me on this.)
