Good for Heaps. There are a lot of reasons going to any of those schools would be a great decision. BYU is messed up, and I always try to steer young people away from it athletes and non-athletes alike. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I think you're confusing Utah State games, although I can understand the confusion. The game at Utah State happened last year and Jake Heaps played like shit. The game this year, where Heaps also played like shit, was in Provo. But the common denominator of shittiness makes it hard to distinguish the games.Originally posted by Hsaru View PostIf we lose 4 games next year and a have an awful year in 2013 with a freshman qb this whole fiasco should lose Bronco his job, just threw away the program for a win at Utah st.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

ha. So is James Lark, according to Bronco.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostHill will make you forget Heaps. He's a bigger Nelson that can throw.
But I'm optimistic about Hill. Wake me up in four years when he's a Jr. and we have our next shot to be great. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Oh no you don't, mister. No way you can tell us all those years how overrated Heaps would be and how he would be a bust and then jump on his bandwagon when he transfers.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostGood for Heaps. At the very least, it sucks because we've apparently got no reliable bridge between Nelson and a Soph or Junior Taysom Hill. If Riley goes down next year, we're going with Lark or Munns, two guys that haven't shown anything in the last two years. If neither of them develop, are we going to rely on Hill coming in as a freshman? He could be great, but I'd rather not put my eggs in that basket.Originally posted by Viking View Postwhy does this suck? the only suck in the house is Heaps, who as it also turns out, is a quitter.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. Funny enough I see him with the chance to start at one of those places and that is Cal.Ute fans everywhere are glad to hear Heaps could be headed to the PAC and are hoping he is as generous to them in future games as he was this past September.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostI hope Heaps transfers to Utah.
You could say that. You could also say that he is transferring because he sucked at the first of the year and the coaches felt Riley gave them a better chance of winning (and they were right - against USU at least).Originally posted by Surfah View PostYeah. Jake Heaps is transferring because of Riley Nelson. Chew on that.
Of course there are a multitude of other ways to look at this as well:
Heaps is transferring because Doman had a tough time in his first year as OC and struggled making an effective game plan/preparing the offense/calling the plays.
Heaps is transferring because BYU didn't hire a QB coach when Doman became OC, and didn't get the attention he needed to be prepared to be successful.
Heaps is transferring because BYU's OL was sucky when he played and didn't provide enough protection for the QB and/or open any holes for BYU to have any kind of rushing attack.
Heaps is transferring because BYU didn't have an RB come forward at the beginning of the season. JJ is a nice compliment, but doesn't have the speed on the edge to play Ole Miss/Utah/Texas like he does to play Idaho/Idaho St./NMSU. It took too long for the coaches to find/prep Alisa for games.
Heaps is transferring because Hoffman came into the season out of shape, Jacobson has regressed to the point that he only catches every 3rd pass he gets his hands on, Apo was a freshman who hadn't played a game in 2 years, and BYU was still messing with a group of TE's - none of which had stepped up. So Heaps had no help offensively even when he did get a chance to throw.
There are a LOT of reasons that Heaps could transfer. Riley isn't one of them. Let's face it - Heaps was the starter going into the season and remained there even after less than stellar offensive production by the team for more than one game.
All that aside - I'd still like Heaps to bite the bullet and RS a year. I'm curious as to where he would lay the cause for his struggles, and if he sees any benefit to a RS year? (Remembering, of course, that this is the kid who finished HS early to make it to BYU in the spring in anticipation of starting right away...fans weren't the only ones with high expectations.)

So how often does a non-starter transfer up? It seems a little backward.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostSeattle Times is reporting Heaps is gonzo.
