Like I said no way does mitch Mathews hurt his shoulder diving for a bowl against Wyoming. Not a chance Hadley makes a cut with no contact against UNLV and blows out his knee. And we definitely do not see Mahina pull his groin against Colorado state. Playing a big time team takes its toll and only bcs teams suffer injuries.

That one year is an anomaly among the schools that have stepped up in competition and it did happen in the worst AQ conference. It had a couple of good teams at the top, but it was non-AQ quality beyond those teams.

Good news for Funk amd SU they both have other Pac12 teams they cheer for. Clearly they realized how bad Utah would be in the Pac. Of course they both were projecting Rose Bowl appearances and success a few short years ago. Now they have taken on a defeatists mentality which isn't surprising.

"A real conference". I love it. I will agree that it is easier to condescendingly downgrade every program on the outside looking in at the BCS than admit that that your program wasn't as good as you thought it was. It's the same thing the Washington States and Arizonas of the world do to console themeslves every fall.

I never had any delusions of grandeur with the Utes program. I was one of the few that said the transition to the Pac-12 was going to be painful and take several years to recruit the depth and talent necessary to compete. It isn't about being condescending, it is about just acknowledging the fact that FBS is really only 1 division in name only.

For the record, I wasn't disputing CJ's claim that some Ute fans were saying silly things, just that I found said silly things to be seriously silly.

I hate the idea of locking out the non-BCS teams.

If you don't like the Utah proof than rely on how far TCU has fallen. BYU would give you another great example, but they aren't getting into a real conference so I guess you won't get to experience the transition with your team.

So the fact that Utah has sucked in the 2-3 seasons after joining the PAC-12 is proof that all non-AQ teams, both in the past and in the future, are completely incapable of competing at a high level (even though they may defeat several AQ teams in the process)? It couldn't possibly be that maybe Utah has just had a few years of mediocre teams?

Let's see where this logic leads us:
1) Utah will NEVER be able to compete in the PAC-12. They were a fraud all the way along.
2) Utah should have not have been invited to the PAC-12 in the first place.
3) Utah's undefeated/BCS season were bogus (including the Bama win) and should be completely discounted.
4) The "We are #2" parade should have never happened and should be mocked by both Utah and BYU fans.

What irony. BYU can't even beat Utah. Did you enjoy your game against Utah? against Wisconsin last week? That's what you would experience every week in the Pac 12. And this just goes to show you how much your wins over Houston et al. mean. They mean nothing. zero. Nobody cares. At least Utah has one win that matters and a chance to get another one this week. At least Utah has been in the game every week.

I think BYU would have more wins than Utah. You have scoreboard, but don't go crazy. That was kind of the point of my post too. Utah should be doing better than they are.

Is all the propaganda about how tough the Pac 12 is seeping in to coaches and players minds? Perhaps the whole program would be better off if you all talked about winning before a game rather than the reason why it's okay to lose.
