My FIL was at that game and he insisted we buy through the CC. That is what you get when you buy CC seats.

Do you guys remember at the very end of the game when Chris Markey (i think?) ran that final TD in to break away 27-17....when he crossed the goal line, he ran towards the BYU section and waved "bye bye" to everyone. I still remember

My first thought on finding this sight was that it was a place where Utah and BYU fans could discuss the rivalry. I have since been dissuaded of this notion as most here express indifference to said rivalry most of the time.

Since this is not a place where Utah and BYU fans discuss the rivalry, I am probably ok posting here.

What rivalry? You keep missing the point.

All I remember is that if BYU had played the 1st half like they played the 2nd half, they win going away. Oh, and So' oto's knee was down.

That was a fun game. I had a drunk student trying to fight our whole section (I was sitting amongst UCLA fans).

clearly and it wasn't close. Also, hey Max Hall, feel free to look out for the blindside pass rush and tuck the ball away, dammit.

I've never heard him before so maybe I'm way off here (HFN could probably set me straight) but he never once mentions Utah when asked about a possible conference or divisional champion. Even when Bill quite obviously sets him up with the "Well, if Oregon finds itself in trouble, and with SC's continued exclusion, who do you think could challenge for the league championship?" he mentions Stanford, Arizona, Washington, and even Oregon St but not Utah. Now maybe he was truly being honest and didn't want to blow smoke up their skirts but to me it seemed odd given the audience not to even mention the posibility.
Schroeder is a decent guy, columnist (again not beat writer as there seems to be some confusion on Babs' and Surfah's part about the difference between the two positions on a news staff) for the Eugene Register-Guard. He is about a 4-5 year transplant from Oklahoma and only in the last 18 or so months has he even begun to acknowledge that any team not named USC could compare to the lowest of B12 teams. So it does not surprise me at all that he is down on Utah's future, as they aren't even from the lowly P10 the are 2-3 levels below that in his B13 opinion.

We've emailed a few times and I sat by him and talked for about 2 hours at a practice last summer. He is a nice guy, but was still in shock that Oregon was able to beat a school as powerful as Okie State in the Holiday Bowl the year previous. If Utah wins he will probably say it is evidence of how bad the Pac truly is.

Of course the revenue sports are king. Football will always be the top dog. I am not disputing that. Read what I said. Olympic sports matter in the PAC 10. Right now I am believing you don't know much about that conference.
Nobody is disputing that Olympic sports "matter" to Stanford and some other schools in the PAC-10. It's just cute that some people think they matter beyond that.

Whether or not it is justified is another thing altogether. Yes, Olympic sports matter--for two weeks every 4 years. That they matter to Stanford for the other three years and 50 weeks doesn't make them any more important to anyone else.
