CC's post was properly placed, as that article calls into question Utah's participation in the PAC-12, at least for basketball.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

This is the 2nd post on this thread. If I try to put myself back a couple of years ago, this looks like a fair assessment. Stanford kept it going and USC has kept sucking for now, but the overall situation is exactly the same as it was expected to be.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostIt's an interesting time to join the PAC12. USC is in the middle of some turmoil. Oregon looks to be heading for some rough waters. Stanford has a new coach and doesn't have a history of staying power.
It would *appear* that the U. might begin participation at a pretty opportune time.
OTOH, UW seems to be making progress, USC will never go away, Oregon has the deep pockets to recover quickly...
I think the Utes have the people in place to be a serious challenger for PAC12 championships right now, but I think the U. is at least a year away.
Now, it looks like a good idea to shoot for becoming a middle of the Pac team as a 1st order of business. (Expect no apology for the pun.) The team that beat BYU and Stanford, and played ASU tough seems like they should already be there, but they are not winning enough. What's the deal? I think Utah is already too good to be a bottom tier team in their conference.
If Utah is not bowl eligible again, KW does not deserve to get canned or even have a hot seat, but is that enough to make his seat warm if next season is also bad? As a casual observer, it looks like they are only better QB play away from being able to join the 2nd tier teams. Is there more going on than that?
There is a real danger of losing all the momentum built up over the last decade if Utah sucks for the next 2-3 years. This also seems like a terrible time for Utah to have dropped the BYU game.

It's not Utah's fault. The PAC12 doesn't let their schools schedule nonconference games after September.Originally posted by Vic Vega View PostThere is a real danger of losing all the momentum built up over the last decade if Utah sucks for the next 2-3 years. Utah is two (or three) good quarterbacks away from keeping pace in the conference. With Wilson down the Utes find themselves in the exact same situation they've been in since Brian Johnson graduated. It's like Groundhog Day.Originally posted by Vic Vega View PostIf Utah is not bowl eligible again, KW does not deserve to get canned or even have a hot seat, but is that enough to make his seat warm if next season is also bad? According to Ute fans this is actually a top 5 team of all time. 4-5 with the hardest SOS in the country is remarkable. No I am not kidding multiple fans have said that. They act like injuries only happen to pac12 teams. They seem to forget a healthy travis wilson threw 6 picks in a game.Originally posted by Vic Vega View PostThis is the 2nd post on this thread. It really is sad how much your trolling abilities have decreased over the years. Congrats you have found one person who made that claim. I'm glad to here that we can take one persons ridiculous statement and impute it to the entire fanbase. This doesn't help combat an argument that this is Dale Murphy 1990 caliber stuff.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostCheck the link and then get back to me. Take it up with your own fanbase.

From that thread:
lol!Which shows how tough BCS conferences are, how thin mid-majors are, and why non-BCS teams shouldn't be allowed in the BCS playoff. It just isn't fair to allow a non-BCS team in over a BCS team, when the BCS team has to do so much to be undefeated. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I don't see any claims in that one that Utah is top 5. Congrats though on finding one embarrassing thread. If you were really up to your old form, you could point out how being a top 5 Ute team of all time really isn't that impressive giving our less than impressive pre-McBride history.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostLooks like Grace found another one.

Oh and by the way, the non-AQ teams shouldn't be included in a playoff. Well there shouldn't really be a playoff at all, but that is a discussion for another time. Utah and TCU have taught us that the AQ conferences were right about how much difficult things are at the higher levels of competition. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression
