I didn't realize this was a Pac-12 setting. If so I will happily fall on my sword.

I guess the joke is on me, too. Or I don't get the joke.

Sorry, his explicit instructions were not limited to discussiond in a PAC-12 setting:
But finally, for the love of all that is good and holy DO NOT treat BYU as your rival. Nothing will fast track you to conference also-ran quicker than bringing up BYU as you all have continually done this past year. Seriously, give it a rest. If they bait you, bite your lip. If they taunt you, look the other way. If they try to say they're better off than you, just roll your eyes. The worst thing that a Ute fan can do is bring up your precious "Zoobs" in any week other than the week you play the Cougars.
It would appear that you've already done "the wost thing that a Ute fan can do" after being instructed not to.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Yes, Olympic sports matter--for two weeks every 4 years. That they matter to Stanford for the other three years and 50 weeks doesn't make them any more important to anyone else.
          Jokes on me then.

Of course the revenue sports are king. Football will always be the top dog. I am not disputing that. Read what I said. Olympic sports matter in the PAC 10. Right now I am believing you don't know much about that conference.

When fucla was the first school to hit 100 national championships/titles, it showed its indifference and lack of enthusiasm to the whole country by altering its jerseys for the entire season

Imagine what they would have done had they really cared.

I took this at the game when BYU played there that season.

Looks like someone cared just enough to change the end zone, too

On a related topic (snobbery-imagined or otherwise), I was listening to Kall 700 on the way home last night and Bill & Spence replayed an interview they did earlier in the day with George Schroeder, beat writer for the Ducks. Overall a good interview but it seemed to me that he went out of his way not to mention Utah as an 2011 champion or even a champion in the next 5 years.

I've never heard him before so maybe I'm way off here (HFN could probably set me straight) but he never once mentions Utah when asked about a possible conference or divisional champion. Even when Bill quite obviously sets him up with the "Well, if Oregon finds itself in trouble, and with SC's continued exclusion, who do you think could challenge for the league championship?" he mentions Stanford, Arizona, Washington, and even Oregon St but not Utah. Now maybe he was truly being honest and didn't want to blow smoke up their skirts but to me it seemed odd given the audience not to even mention the posibility.

So was I, but he probably paid less than both of us.

"They" probably paid him to attend. I don't run in such circles.

I believe the injunction was against treating BYU as Utah's rival and mentioning BYU in the context of that rivalry. I didn't realize all references to BYU were now Verbotten. Forgive me.

So, what has the school that shall not be named done more than Stanford? The fans of the school that shall not be named sure do like to give "friendly" advice.

                              Better?
