Pretty sure it's from 1951.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostHoyo has been gone for decades. Hell, that even predates the Crimson Warrior, and he was gone by the mid-1980s. My best guess is the Ken Garff ad is from a game program, circa early to mid-1970s.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

The phone number is a giveaway. I've been around since 1954 and I never saw any SLC phone number without a three-numeral prefix.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostTrue, or at least it has to be earlier than the mid-70s. We weren't scalping BYU on a regular basis then, that's for sure.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Okay Ute fans, we're 25% of the way through the season (it goes by way too fast). Have your expectations changed since the end of fall camp?
I'm slightly more optimistic about Utah, but I'm moderately more optimistic about how they'll finish in the PAC-12.
Based on my preseason anticipations, compared to now:
Oregon St and UCLA are much worse;
Pitt, Washington, and Arizona are a little worse;
Colorado is just as bad;
Cal and Arizona St are just as good;
Wazzou is a little better.
I'm still in the 8-4 (probable) or 9-3 (optimistic) camp, but I'm feeling a little better about the Pitt game, and I'm feeling a lot better about the Arizona game."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

I feel like Arizona shouldn't be as tough as it probably will be...but if they could get these first two vs. Washington and ASU, things could get exciting.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostOkay Ute fans, we're 25% of the way through the season (it goes by way too fast). Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I am thinking that except maybe Pitt. Utah will be favored in every game left on the schedule. Also if Utah beats Ariz st they will win the south. In that scenario we would hope that Stanford wins the North as Utah matches up better with them than with Oregon (IMO).Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostOkay Ute fans, we're 25% of the way through the season (it goes by way too fast). So small shot at the Rose bowl, decent shot at the Alamo or Holiday (assuming Oregon and Stanford are in bcs games). Most likely they are in the Sun or Vegas bowl. I think they end up 9-3 and go to San Antonio."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. I agree, I like our chances better against the Cardinal, but it will be an uphill climb for those guys."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

I hope we start to see more carries by Harvey or Thretton to wear down opposing defenses and then letting John White IV loose against them. The current number of carries he is taking upon himself straight into the defense worries me for possible injuries.
Does anyone know what kind of progress Palamo is making? Langi has gotten some carries and looks good. His upright running style seems to have been corrected.

And again, Utah Fans defining themselves as what they are not.Originally posted by Surfah View PostSomeone should call CPS on these parents:

Just think of the crap these people must talk about BYU in order to elicit such a strongly whiny reaction. And they think it's so great that they put it up on youtube.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I can dig either of those games."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum
