Alright, let's hear your Heaps assessments

The continued bashing from all corners is A-ok though? I couldn't care less about Heaps as a person, my emotional attachment to the situation is that I feel like the chance at BYU football greatness in the near term died a quick horrific death this year and it is pretty hard to come to terms with that. On the flipside Nelson and Ogletree represent every thing I dislike about the way Bronco runs the football program and why the program seems to have a distinct ceiling it can't get past.

Yet the team follows them. Not only that those that are considered Heaps buddies talk them up in the press and aren't considering transfers. They also talk up Bronco.

I'm interested to hear what Nelson and Ogletree represent that's so horrific.

Bronco's not the problem. He may be the best thing BYU has going for it right now.

If Heaps sucks in Kansas it will have nothing to do with BYU, it will just mean he sucks. Too bad the Heaps "haters" or those who just think he flat out sucks like Viking/Jay etc won't admit that Doman/Bronco screwed the pooch if Heaps excels in Kansas under an OC that wasn't a complete mess like Doman was early 2011 with his failed pro-style/Stanford/Wisconsin-esque attack and subsequent complete scrapping of that offense. They already have built-in excuses in case that happens to still give Heaps zero credit.

Actually, I'm on record as saying that my belief is that Heaps' failing his sophomore year is an indication he will never be a great college QB. And if he does become one, it might be an indication BYU coaches screwed up with him his sophomore year.

I think most people blamed the 2 qb situation.

Anybody who was doing anything other than cartwheels with how Jake Heaps looked as a freshman , during the 2nd half of the year, was a dumbass. For a true freshman to show that type of improvement and understanding by the end of the season was spectacular. I think the running off of Robert Anae might not have been nearly as well thought out as we would have liked it.

As long as we are taking bets, I will bet Heaps ends up a pretty darn good QB at Kansas, barring injuries.

That could be due to him working harder, less family interference, a team that is concerned about winning instead of entitlement, whatever.

No one will really ever know the real reason Heaps failed at BYU and the conjecture and debate could go on and on and on to no avail. I trust the coaches have thought about it and if they think they had any part in it will learn.

That being said, good players transfer from programs all the time. That kid from Tulsa was good and came from Texas.

Heaps is gone and I am not going to lose any sleep over it.

I do wish BYU was in a position to hire proven coordinators instead of ongoing on the job training, but with the admins. tea party mentality when it comes to spending, I doubt that is gong to happen.

Speaking of transfers which high profile programs are going to have huge qb battles/contraversies this spring and fall? We need them identified and we need to go out and buy some advertising space on billboards need the campus/stadium inviting any transfers to come to BYU! Seriously, if there is a kid who has a RS year and then just one year of elgibility who has already played college ball for a year or so we should be doing all in our power to find him as soon as he is jilted by losing his starting position. We have been burned by this transfer trend the past month, but it need not end that way.

Based on what? His performance at BYU? His supporting cast at KU? Charlie Weis? An easier Big-12 Schedule?? (

I see Heaps struggling for PT at KU and being the emergency QB for a CFL team before getting a real job.

I certainly hope I'm wrong and I wish him no ill will, he simply isn't a tremendous athlete, notwithstanding his cannon of an arm.
