This is really interesting. I'll admit that I must not have a very good pulse on public perceptions, because I've heard this from a lot of people. I thought BYU would come across as self-righteous and harsh, when in reality, I think most thought it was a pretty classy move.

I've had similar experiences in discussing the Word of Wisdom with people.

I think people do respect our beliefs and ability to adhere to them. Heck, I respect the Amish.

RE: The word of Wisdom, which I think is about the most ridiculous litmus test to enter the temple we could come up with...There was a story that Greg Prince shared about Chase Peterson. Peterson was called to be the Dean of Admissions at Harvard, which was quite a promotion for a dentist from SLC. He always wondered how he got that job and one day ran into the Dean who had hired him. The Dean told him (I'm paraphrasing): "It was rather simple, really. I noticed that you never took a drink at any of our gatherings and figured that you must be a good person."

BFM, it has been 6+ years since I have bought BYU season tickets. Do they not tell you how much donation is required to keep your tickets or move to better seats?

I get an invoice in January from Oregon that says to maintain my football tickets will require a donation of X and to maintain my basketball tickets will require a donation of y. Then there is an enclosed packet of information that says how much per seat is required to move to different sections.

BYU Cougar Club seats are not guaranteed year to year. Your donation only buys you a guaranteed slot in the draw - not a guaranteed seat location. If more people donate at a higher level than you, you get bumped down.

In order for me to move to the next club level, I would have to cough up a $10K one-time donation

Is there an updated depth chart somewhere online? There seems to be a lot more names tha usual being discussed on D. I'm not sure who is currently running with the first or second teams.

Wrubell posts a depth chart every day in his blog, http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=16725846&nid=498, the depth chart is really fluid though as they are mostly just giving different people reps early on to see what people can do.

Nice. For fans clamoring to know where I have been, I am on injured reserve and don't expect to ever get off it. Besides that I have HC issues.

I was running the scout team O vs the #1 D. Those junior high kids almost had my number.

Just watched True Blue. I am actually feeling a twinge of excitement. I really like the idea they are trying to make the experience there fun in addition to the game. I might even go to a couple of the bummer games.

Uh, no, not even close. At least Mormons encourage education and pursue it. Most Amish have little more than an elementary school education and they eschew science. If it doesn't help them with a practical skill on the farm then they not only have no interest, but discourage it as well.
