    Two things:

Much to my surprise Tuiloma IS apparently going on a mission - I thought he was too young. But apparently he'll be 19 and mission bound in June.

That said - I do think there are good odds that Fuga RS's. W/ Fangupo rotating with Manu (and depth from Graham Rowley who, per latest, is probably NOT going on a mission) the depth is there to let Fuga take a year to heal.

I think allowing Fuga to redshirt would be smart. I just remembered Dulan is back, he will either be part of the rotation or redshirt, I would guess.

Entitlement issues? Do you mean he is another one is feels he is better than some who get to play because they have more "life experiences" than he does.

There has been enough said to not doubt the kid has huge talent. Whether he can fit into the comformity that is expected, we will see.

I am sure if things don't work out for him, we will hear plenty of stories about his cancerous attitude.

          My secondhand on Smith

          (a) real potential - legit 6'4 and legit 4.5 range speed
          (b) he supposedly showed well in his one fall camp

I believe he's already used his RS.

Next year it looks like we'll have:
Hoffman, Apo, MJ, Hafoka (I'd predict those four make up the two-deep) with Chambers, Smith and Rhen Brown in the wings. I'm also skeptical that 6'5 200 Marcus Matthews sticks in the consolidated TE rotation (w/ Muehlman out it's looking like Mahina, Holt and Wilson will be the last ones standing) which probably means back to the WR rotation for him.

          So to sum up:

Hoffman, MJ, Apo, Hafoka, Chambers, Smith, Matthews, Brown. Oh, throw Falslev and Drew Phillips into the mix. We've come a long way since 2003.

          That's lots to work with.

What about the kid from AZ that you just got the commitment from? Isn't he well over 6 feet tall, too?

This is probably the biggest BYU receiving corps in history, no?

...btw then the sizzle really gets going in 2012 when Brett Thompson - who I'd put second only to Apo in terms of his ceiling - gets back off his mish. Love that kid's ability. I honestly don't think that Austin Collie comparisons are totally out of place when it comes to the combo of athleticism, good speed, football savvy and size (Brett's actually slightly bigger). The purest coincidence that they're both Mormons who played at the same Sac area high school

Yes - Weeks is 6'4 and pushing 200. We definitely have a "type" these days.

Not to put a damper on all of this but did some of you attend a Kyle Whittingham seminar recently?

I'm quite certain the future is bright but a tough early season schedule lies ahead.

That said, I too think it will be an especially long offseason.

Good safety play reverts to Quinn Gooch and the walk on from Texas who just always had themselves in the right position. The LBs will be the playmakers.

I think the defensive two deep is such:

                    DE: Putnam, Bryson
                    NG: Fuga, Tuiloma
                    DE: Ethyn M, Dulan
                    SOLB: Pendleton, Frazier
                    MLB: Ogletree, Jorgenson
                    BLB: Kaveinga, Leing-Wei
                    WOLB: Van Noy, Atkinson
                    FC: Eason, Buckner
                    SS: Bradley, Galai
                    FS: Uale, Everitt
                    BC: Aguirre, Hadley
                    Update on this -

I'm not convinced that Bronco is going to default to Uale next year. He blew two over the top coverages yesterday against UTEP and has been suspect at several points this year - and given that Bronco made a decision NOT to start him earlier in the year I don't think he was much more than a default starter this year.

With the talent coming in I think he'll genuinely open the competition.

                    On others:
NG: Tuiloma is apparently mission bound, Rowley not. I think we'll see a mix of Fangupo w/ Manumaleuna and Rowley rotating.
SOLB/WOLB: Going to be very interesting to see how the Pendleton/KVN/Frazier threesome is going to be resolved next year. Pendleton and KVN clearly have the most ability but Frazier has really come on this year and can't be written off.
FC/BC: My bet would be that Eason and Buckner will be the starters with Aguirre possibly nudging out Buckner. Gaines and Johnson are my early bets as depth. I'm guessing Everett and Hadley both at safety, but we'll see.

No I phrased that wrong - moved to DE.

I meant "out" of the TE picture.

I hear Buckner just isn't that interested in football anymore. It might not even be 5th on his priority list. I have only one source on that though, so it might be just one persons opinion.

I hadn't heard that but that is great.

I can't count the number of wide open drops he had this year on play action passes.

I wonder when you heard this -

I know there was a stretch maybe late summer this year when he was unhappy with the program, but that had to do with a certain defensive coach who is no longer with us who has previously had run-ins w/ Andrew Rich, Jordan Pendleton and others.

Playing for a coach who routinely berates his players can do a lot to convince a player that he's no longer interested in the game.

So was this something you heard recently?
