He appeared to me to be relatively athletic. He seemed fairly smooth and pretty acrobatic in the air. I don't have any idea what his speed is or many of the other components of being a good WR, but he appeared fairly athletic with all those goal line passing drills.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostSo for anyone who has attended a scrimmage/open practice, did you get a look at Terenn Houk? Thoughts?

I'm hoping we have another Hoffman on our hands, but it seems odd that none of the schools in his area gave him any attention at all. And I know that's what happened with Hoff, but my understanding of his situation is that his school was kind of out in the boonies where this kid played in the Seattle metro area.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Calling it the boonies doesn't really do justice to just how rural Hoff's home town is. It is several hours from anywhere, with Medford Oregon being the closest town with a Walmart. Its not even a blip on the radar, and any major program coach would really have to go out of their way to even get a look at him.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThanks!

I have my doubts as well. I just think that diamonds in the rough are not that prevalent or else they stop being diamonds in the rough. I thought Enumanclaw was outside the metro a bit. We were once looking at putting in a telecom/phone system for a small community that was opposite Enumanclaw through the watershed for Seattle.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThanks!

From what I could see it did not look to me like he had no reason to be out there. Whether or not he will ever be a contributor or good I really cannot project yet.

This is what I understand. Hoff was really a lucky deal. IMO, BYU has a few strange, lucky and rare are probably better descriptions, anomalies materializing for the football team all simultaneously. These sort of things happen every so often, but there are a number of positive ones right now. Hence, while I agree with many of the sunshine pumping assesments of BYU's current collective talent level, I am real skeptical that it is sustainable.Originally posted by bluegoose View PostCalling it the boonies doesn't really do justice to just how rural Hoff's home town is. From Jay Drew's blog: http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsby...-ends.html.csp
It's good of him to let us know Bronco isn't ruling out divine intervention on behalf of the defense. Three cheers for the Lord's university. On the outside linebacker depth:
"One of the strengths on the team. Not only who our outside linebackers are, but the depth we have there. If not Thee strength, it is one of the strengths."

It's out there, but I'm pretty sure it's still in King County, which is the same county as Seattle. In sports they compete against teams just outside of Seattle (like Decatur HS in Federal Way) so it's not completely off the grid.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI have my doubts as well. Hype? We're the only school that offered him a scholarship, no? I think it's the opposite of hype at this point -- more wondering what he did to justify the offer.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostHe didn't do anything that stood out and made me take notice at practice. I guess I haven't seen him compared to Hoffman yet. I said I *hope* he's the next Hoffman (which to me just means a diamond-in-the-rough type), but expressed doubt in my post, as did Goat. I haven't read anything that says he is, and most of the comments about him have been wondering why we offered a scholarship and if he's done anything so far to make him seem worthy of it.So Russell...what do you love about music?
