He went through a stretch where he was lights out right after that.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you mean. And his comments after that game were really dumb.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I predict Heaps transfers unless Riley gets hurt this year.

Nelson is turning out to be better than I thought. Heaps doesn't look any different.

Heaps will think about whether he'd rather sit behind Nelson another year or transfer, and it won't be that difficult of a decision.

Heaps looks worse than the very first time he stepped foot on a college football field. I have no idea how that happened.

I think at this point it's a foregone conclusion.

Are you saying from his perspective or yours? I still think his best option would be to stay and redshirt, but I have no clue how he's viewing things.

It is baffling. Like you and Live were saying yesterday the offense feels different when Heaps is in and not in good way. Seems like every throw has to go 40 yards to pick up 3. There are virtually no screens or throws to the middle of the field.

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand this. He comes in and instantly the difficulty level of every pass seems to double. Someone was saying these are one read timing throws. Is that right? If it is, I don't understand why they wouldn't get him some easier throws to get a rhythm going (though I think on the majority of those outs yesterday he actually looked a bit better throwing them).

                  His or mine, the same.

I would usually say its best to be patient and stay and you'll get your chance.

If Heaps asks Bronco at the end of the season if he gets a chance to beat out Nelson next year, the answer will be no. If Heaps asks if he'll be the starting QB when Nelson leaves, Bronco will say you will be given a fair shot to beat out Hill (or Lark whoever backs up Nelson next year). I doubt that will be what Heaps wants to hear. He probably can find a coach who will promise the job after sitting out the transfer year.

With BYU being independent, what are the transfer rules?

Would he have to sit out a year if he was to go to another DI school?

He still has to sit out a year. The only thing that being independent is an advantage is that he can transfer anywhere where as before he would have to transfer somewhere out of conference. I think thats right at least.

Sitting out a year is a NCAA rule. The conference can implement an additional year for transferring in conference if they would like. I actually think that is counterproductive because if it is a good player as a conference do you really want them leaving?

I'm expecting, certainly not hoping, for Nelson to go down with an injury at some point next season. If Hill is as good as my tempered expectations imagine he is, we should be average to just above average at QB next year. I'm fine with that. I'm not saying I would welcome Jake's transfer but I think we would be ok.

                            I agree with both points.

Nelson will get dinged up at some point in the future. Someone has to be ready to play.

I don't want Heaps to leave, but we'll be okay is he does (see: Ben Olson).

The only way transferring makes any sense is if he can be assured a starting spot at a place that will give him the type of exposure he wants/needs to get to the next level.

I don't think there's a team that fits that description. His freaking family moved to Provo; I bet he redshirts next year and competes for the starting job the year after, unless his parents are amenable to moving to Ogden or Cedar City.

I just don't understand this statement. If he transfers, her burns his redshirt and hopefully starts for New Mexico State for two years.

If he stays, he gets his third year of experience at BYU and likely starts for two years.

                                No brainer.
