I do not think you meet the NASA Astronaut Basic Qualifications, so you have probably not been in outer space.
Astronaut Candidate Basic Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements before submitting an application.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering, biological science, physical science, or mathematics. Quality of academic preparation is important.
Degree must be followed by at least 3 years of related, progressively responsible, professional experience or at least 1,000 pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft. An advanced degree is desirable and may be substituted for experience as follows: master’s degree = 1 year of experience, doctoral degree = 3 years of experience. Teaching experience, including experience at the K - 12 levels, is considered to be qualifying experience for the Astronaut Candidate position; therefore, educators are encouraged to apply.
Ability to pass the NASA long-duration space flight physical, which includes the following specific requirements:
Distant and near visual acuity: Must be correctable to 20/20, each eye
The refractive surgical procedures of the eye, PRK and LASIK, are allowed, providing at least 1 year has passed since the date of the procedure with no permanent adverse after effects. For those applicants under final consideration, an operative report on the surgical procedure will be requested.
Blood pressure not to exceed 140/90 measured in a sitting position
Standing height between 62 and 75 inchesGet confident, stupid

So an injured Heaps who had no summer workouts beat out Nelson for the starting job?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

No. Heaps was anointed the starter and did well enough to not lose it in practice. Did you actually think that Nelson was actually allowed to compete against St. Hypes for the starting role?Originally posted by Surfah View PostSo an injured Heaps who had no summer workouts beat out Nelson for the starting job?Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. Heaps finished the year as developing into a good QB. I do recall there being talk about Heaps injuring a rib against UTEP and perhaps that injury was worse than we all realized? However, given how he finished and likely how he looked in Fall Camp it seems to make sense to have gone with Heaps. I am not so convinced that the injury, or even missed summer workouts, are the biggest cause of Jake's poor play. I tend to believe this explanation is part of a vast conspiracy to cover it up to protect Jake from unreasonable fans who tend to behave like Pharisees!Originally posted by Surfah View PostSo an injured Heaps who had no summer workouts beat out Nelson for the starting job?
IMO, there is clearly a two pronged effort going on. One is to make Jake aware that he has got to earn it by earning the respect and trust of his coaches and teamates. Prong two is to protect Jake by giving the fanbase a reason to rationalize away his poor play.
Time will tell, but I am more excited about Riley over the rest of this year and next year. We can get back to Jake if and when his next shot to be the man comes. Saying that, Bronco will claim the qb position is open for spring ball and he will then choose Riley Nelson so he has a clear leader going into the summer. I know there are those who have a gene on their karyotype demanding they pullstring about all things Bronco but remember Goat told you it was coming and that it was a smokescreen intended to keep Jake fully invested and Riley on his toes.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Do you think that the pervasively damaging LDS culture, based upon an old fashioned and frequently damaging belief system that discourages independent thought, led to this unfortunate situation? You seem pretty dialed into the shortcomings of mormonism and I was wondering if you had any intuition on the role it might have played in this?Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostNo. Heaps was anointed the starter and did well enough to not lose it in practice. In my own mind I think it is as simple as this. The coaches think right now Nelson gives them the best chance to win. At least win the game they were losing, USU and beat the two decent teams left on the schedule, OSU and TCU.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostHeaps finished the year as developing into a good QB. Any of the stuff about whose fault it is Jake laid an egg is just speculation for me.
I am sad to see a talent like Jake didn't have it work like I envisioned. I wish him well in whatever decision he ends up making.

Were you guys asleep at the wheel last season? Heaps had his ribbed popped out against Utah when he was hit by a defender. The trainers popped it back in at half time and he played the rest of the game. He also played against Utep, but it was mentioned that the injury was still bothering him some and after the season he was going to take time off to let it heal. None of this is news.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I assumed it had healed and was no longer a problem. If the injury hasn't healed as planned it would explain some of Jake's accuracy issues. Imagine throwing and every time you followed through you get a brief stabbing pain.

I'm sure it has. The injury has probably lingered longer in his head than body.Originally posted by Shaka View PostI assumed it had healed and was no longer a problem.
