If it doesn't happen I will no longer be here. Instead you will have a new poster who will go by Utah72.
Why do you say one day off? From ESPN's perspective, tomorrow makes more sense than Saturday. Get people talking about the news for a day before the BYU-UT game.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

    • aTm is gone. If OU and UT stay (they never were going anywhere), then the B12 stays intact, and threat of lawsuit is gone. aTm gets their invite and they bolt. There's no way they have a long term stable place in the B12. Too much has been said.

Was aTm really expecting that? I assume they will not get their share this year or only part of it this year and none of it next year (assuming 2013 departure). Financially things could get very ugly for aTm's athletics.
I don't think the Aggies expected to leave the Big 12 without financial penalties. I remember reading that the Big 12 already stopped writing checks to Texas A&M. Most probably already know this, but in the event some don't, the Big 12 doesn't need to sue A&M or seek damagess for exit fees. The revenue for current contracts for games already played goes directly to the Big 12. So all the conference needs to do is to not forward that revenue to Texas A&M; so it will be Texas A&M who will have to sue the Big 12 if it thinks something is unjust.

I think the "consideration" being referred to is for other Big 12 member institutions not "consideration" in a financial sense. In other words, A&M shouldn't expect Big 12 institutions not to sue the Aggies if TV contracts were ammended or if the conference falls aparts and Baylor and others suffer financial damages as a result. I doubt Dan Beebe can go back to FoxSports and ESPN after A&M leaves and get the same deal he did after Colorado and Nebraska left. Perhaps adding BYU and spreading A&M's share of the revenue to other Big 12 schools can mitigate it somewhat but there still may be lost revenue. After reading this, perhpas the "consideration" is financial after all. But it's not A&M expecting to continue to get it's share of revenue after announcing its intent to leave the Big 12. It's lost revenue after adding BYU and allocating A&M's exit fees because the networks have renegotiated the TV contracts. Just my $0.02

if Viking leaves, then who will guarantee that BYU is headed to the ACC?

Someone needs to fill that role, so that this thread can maintain its comedic value.

I think part of his schtick wrt being a short termer is it helps him keep an edge. There is a bit of uncertainty, or perception of it, that I think he likes. I also think that while a very good coach, has issues with fans and it makes him a wee bit petty. While I don't see him leaving early, I think it is his subtle warning to not boo me or else I will take my ball and go home. We all have our shortcomings and that is one of Bronco's.
His departure will be at the behest of the Church's missionary dept when they call him to be a Mission President somewhere. At that point, he'll be done coaching.

LOL, do you think he could do more good for the church as a Mission President somewhere than as the head coach winning games and giving firesides?

That's like saying Jimmer would have done more good as a missionary in Sweden than playing the straight four years.

You probably didn't mean that and I misunderstood, sorry.

Strategic move. If it happens Friday everyone will be so giddy they won't give a crap I am one day off. Heck, everyone will be focused on the Prophet Viking.

                If it happens Saturday, well.......

It's all based on one tweet from someone with one tweet and 300 followers. Schad retweeted it and now it's all over Twitter.

Was this really news to start with? Of course, BYU would join an intact B12. I don't get the story here.

                        The comments are funny.

Jimmer needs to organize a Soprano's style 'sit down' with the AD over at Our Lady and get them to see that their REAL best interests are - and always have been - to join the TV-side-deal-friendly-Big 12. Jimmer will 'make them an offer he can't refuse.' Refusal would be a sign of disrespect...

Which is why I can't stand Joe Schad. The guy has no integrity and is a complete hack.

Do you still think BYU would or and should, turn down an invite from an intact BIG12?
