if the Big XII lost A&M and the Oklahoma Schools, I'd expect the Big East to immediately go after Kansas, KSU and Missouri. Because, you'd expect the Big XII to invite Pitt, WVU and Louisville.
I'm not completely sure who wins the fight for schools between a depleted Big XII and the Big East.

First, we have scheduled one BCS 1-1 in the last year. DOesnt give good signs.Originally posted by shoganai View Post-BCS access issues are irrelevant as soon as the Plus-one format comes into play.
-The scheduling discontent is so overblown right now, I could right an entire epistle on it. In fact, I have.
-Of course Texas helps alleviate those issues. It's one more great game we can schedule in October/November as often as we want, and it will only encourage more teams to think about independence. The more independent schools there are, the better for BYU.
Second, do you count southern miss as a quality non bcs opponent?

If you can't take one glance at future schedules and see that we're already on the verge of serious upgrades over the annual 12-game slate in the MWC, then I think you need to adjust your glasses.Originally posted by Maximus View PostFirst, we have scheduled one BCS 1-1 in the last year. Oh, and you are aware that Southern Miss has been to more bowl games in the last decade than BYU, right?Originally posted by Maximus View PostFirst, we have scheduled one BCS 1-1 in the last year. DOesnt give good signs.

Sure we might be scheduling better teams, but how many are we going to see in LES? Also, I don't use the MWC as a measuring stick. I use the BCS conference schedules as a measuring stick. I want solid competition coming into LES every year, not every three years.Originally posted by shoganai View PostIf you can't take one glance at future schedules and see that we're already on the verge of serious upgrades over the annual 12-game slate in the MWC, then I think you need to adjust your glasses."To the man who only has a hammer, everything he encounters begins to look like a nail."

More than we ever have in the past.Originally posted by WashingtonCoug View PostSure we might be scheduling better teams, but how many are we going to see in LES?
So in other words you want Notre Dame's schedule of nine BCS teams a year?Originally posted by WashingtonCoug View PostAlso, I don't use the MWC as a measuring stick. I use the BCS conference schedules as a measuring stick. I want solid competition coming into LES every year, not every three years.
If those are your honest hopes/expectations then you're right, independence probably won't please you as a fan.Last edited by shoganai; 09-07-2011, 09:35 AM.

is that supposed to mean something? Yes, BYU had its 4 worst years in the past 30+ years in the last decade. You didnt even respond to the grand total of ONE bcs 1-1. That is troubling.Originally posted by shoganai View PostOh, and you are aware that Southern Miss has been to more bowl games in the last decade than BYU, right?

This is the rub. It seems to me that the BYU home schedule is suffering due to independence. I think the road and neutral game schedules sound great, but the home schedule is suffering.Originally posted by WashingtonCoug View PostSure we might be scheduling better teams, but how many are we going to see in LES? In many respects it is an upgrade but right now there is no indicator that the home schedule will provide very interesting matchups from the middle of October through the end of November.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

LOL he didnt even mention ND. We have one BCS game at home next year. We have a good schedule 2013. There are no signs of getting 2-3 BCS home games at home any year besides 1.Originally posted by shoganai View PostSo in other words you want Notre Dame's schedule of nine BCS teams a year?

were talking home games. We have yet to see a "serious upgrade" except one year because of a 2-1 happening to fall the same year our only other BCS 1-1 is scheduled.Originally posted by shoganai View PostIf you can't take one glance at future schedules and see that we're already on the verge of serious upgrades over the annual 12-game slate in the MWC, then I think you need to adjust your glasses.

Southern Miss, Brett Favre's school, is cool but what is up with scheduling Weber St and playing them in September? I could see playing them in November and maybe in October but September?!?Originally posted by Maximus View PostFirst, we have scheduled one BCS 1-1 in the last year. DOesnt give good signs.

Every single one of these arguments about scheduling are based on one of two things...
-Something HASN'T happened yet, so we're jumping to conclusions that it WON'T happen, even though the administration that actually puts the schedules together assures us that things will be fine after 2012. Sorry, I'll listen to them before I listen to any of you - nothing personal, you understand...
or...
-We're not playing as many BCS games a year as we subjectively decide we should.
Both of those are pretty flimsy arguments, IMO. But, this thread has been hijacked enough, so that's all I will say on the matter.
