Stoops well timed statement knowing the SEC meeting was on just put the cheery on top! Aggy is going nowhere! Now it is time to bring BTU and Airforce(?) in and be done with it all.
5-10 years from now, someone needs to write a huge tell all book about this conference realignment process. Each twist and turn is fascinating.

Texas A&M being locked into the Big 12 is hilarious. Hopefully, it doesn't keep BYU out of the Big 12 though.

Oh, dear. I didn't even realize we were even piling on babs. I should really pay more attention.

What I said was that for a hundred years we have always recruited in Texas. The number of recruits in Texas, the geographic proximity, and the elite tradition of the Sooners all dictate as much. Granted, some years we're more competitive than others, but we always have and always will recruit from Texas.

As far as whether we need Texas recruiting, I don't know. Interestingly, the most recent year we won the national title was the year we had the most starters from Oklahoma and the fewest from Texas.

Yes, the ghost of Ann Richards may have a say in this.

          • Here is what Chip Brown wrote about the vote on OrangeBloods:

            Hold everything folks.

The Southeastern Conference presidents met Tuesday night and voted to admit Texas A&M. But the vote came with a stipulation that still must be worked out.

The SEC presidents voted to admit Texas A&M as the 13th member of that league so long as each individual member of the Big 12 waives its right to litigation against the SEC.

And it was unclear Tuesday night if all nine remaining members of the Big 12 would waive that right, sources said. The Big 12 schools were expected to discuss the matter on Wednesday, sources said. That's the same day Texas A&M has planned a celebration in College Station to announce its admission into the SEC, sources said.

If even one of the Big 12 schools refuse to waive their right to sue the SEC over its courtship of Texas A&M, the SEC could withdraw its vote to admit A&M, sources said.

After letters were exchanged by SEC commissioner Mike Slive and Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe Tuesday, Beebe told Slive the Big 12 conference office had waived its right to litigate against Texas A&M or the SEC but that the Big 12's waiver was not binding on the individual members of the Big 12, sources said.

The SEC indicated it would admit Texas A&M only upon condition that each individual member of the Big 12 waive its right to sue the SEC, sources said.

And that condition was in doubt Tuesday night, sources said.

            Stay tuned.
So, the SEC has voted to allow the Big-12 schools the ability to block aTm's move? Why? Does this mean they are taking a pass on aTm? Or just slowing the whole thing down?

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

This makes sense. Some years ago we started to train our youth from a very young age to infiltrate the OU football program to wreck it. We thought Stoops would figure this out by now and stop coming after our boys.

Was that before or after Adrian Peterson committed? I always figured it must have been voodoo behind all his injuries.

                  • An update from Chip about Baylor...

6:15 AM WEDNESDAY - Multiple sources say Baylor is the school the SEC is most concerned about when it comes to the threat of a lawsuit. One source said Baylor is seriously considering a lawsuit against the SEC alleging the acquisition of Texas A&M would set off a domino effect in realignment that would result in hundreds of millions of dollars in damages to schools across the country.

The source also said Baylor would consider a lawsuit against Mike Slive personally.

Obviously, the SEC is taking this seriously because the presidents in that league made their vote to admit Texas A&M contingent on the individual member schools in the Big 12 signing a waiver not to sue the SEC.

I am thinking that the only way aTm may go to the SEC is if the aggies convince the conference to also let Baylor come too.

                          Lol!

I've got a feeling if Baylor blocks this, the next Aggie bonfire will be in Waco.

                          • oh, my golly, this saga really is the source of endless unintentional comedy. This just in from the Aggie beat writer: For the SEC, it may not be "life or death" to pick up A&M.

                            http://www.aggiesports.com/blogs/agg...entId=blogDest

When I left the office late Tuesday/early Wednesday all indications where that Texas A&M would have a press conference later today announcing they were joining the SEC.

But Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com reported that the SEC voted Tuesday to admit A&M with one stipulation — that the Big 12 schools the Aggies are leaving behind each waive their right to litigation against the SEC.

Wow! Would Baylor block A&M’s move? The Bears have been making noise that they would do anything to keep the Big 12 intact. Have you seen their “Don’t Mess With Texas Football” campaign on their website?

If indeed it takes just one school to block A&M’s move to the SEC, this could get dicey. Let’s say Texas and Oklahoma don’t want the BIg 12 to fall apart, they could back Baylor’s play behind close doors. Or what if Iowa State teams up with Baylor? That way it wouldn’t be just Baylor standing alone. I haven’t seen many options for ISU in the thousands of realignment pieces I’ve read. The Big 12 staying together might be ISU’s only good option.

It would make sense that the SEC doesn’t want any bad publicity and lawsuits are never good – i.e. Mike Leach and Texas Tech.
The SEC is already the country’s best conference. It would be better with A&M, but it’s not life and death that the SEC get the Aggies today, this week or even this year.
ps. if he's really been "covering the Aggies for 34 years," shouldn't he know how to use i.e.?

                            • Can you really waive your right to sue?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
