Of course, FSU/FL are obligated by law to play each other. Or is this some kind of contingency plan in case Texas/OU/Tech/OSU go west and the SEC grabs some teams from the ACC? In short, the Big 12 merges with the ACC to form a super conference and in the process gets rid of some dead weight (e.g. Baylor, ISU, etc.) and adds new schools (e.g. BYU, ND, Pitt, etc.).
That guy is way too Tejas-centric. ISU/KSU are probably going wherever KU goes. We've all been through too much to throw someone over the side. Unlike the Missourians, KU sees the value in our 100 year old rivalries and needs as many allies as possible. Tejas can shove it and pay a hefty exit fee afore they start throwing that kinda weight around. Tejas needs to get OU back on board and convince the Utah Cougars this thing can work or they can kiss the LHN good-bye. The only way the LHN works is thru some sort of partnership w/ the Norte. We're probably in a better position than we've been in a while.

Yes indeed. And LA tried to run him off.

      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

As for the old Norte, I'm rather enjoying this. KU/ISU/KSUck will cling to the Big 12 til the bitter end collecting exit fees and damages as they come available. Then, we'll either repopulate the Big 12 and use the Fox Sports/ESPN rivalry to our advantage or we'll fold it into the Big East. It really doesn't matter. Honestly, KU/KSUck/ISU/Baylor/Mizzou could be sitting on a huge pile of money in 6 months, own the Big 12's AQ status, a number of bowl contracts and looking for some like minded partners. This four 16 team conference talk is malarkey. It may happen, but it won't last. You cannot put OU/UT/USC/Stanford/Cal in the same league. Too many egos and not enough wins. And that doesn't include OkieState/Tech trash UT/OU will drag w/ them.

Does Stanford understand how humiliating it is to fly 4 hours to OKC (losing two hours to time zone), ride a bus 2hours to Stoolwater, lodge at the Ramada Inn on the Cimmaron Turnpike, eat a pre-game meal of salsbury steak and cold peas at the Perkins, get their arse kicked in front of 10000 empty seats by a bunch of Tejas boys who scored 17s on their ACTs, have crap thrown at the bus by a bunch of orange clad fans who never went to college afore taking the two hour trip back down to OKC to fly back to Kalifornia arriving at 8am on Sunday exhausted and demoralized. Exactly how long will this conference last?

Utah and CU are pretty close...

According to Forbes CU is #185 and Utah is #188. I assume being in the same conference their athletics will be pretty much the same as well. However, CU has a national championship and a Heisman trophy in its football show case. So maybe you are right about no school being like Utah within the five/six state region.

On the other hand, BYU (#136) is like UT-Austin (#138). It is no wonder these guys get along so well.

Isn't it somebody who manipulates emotions with statements he may not really hold or believe, sincerity being secondary to the objective of evoking reaction?

How could anyone doubt my sincerity? I was born a seventh generation Mormon, lived in Salt Lake or on a mission from ages 7 to 24, have family who have been BYU professors and administrators. I know a lot about BYU, and I don't like much that I know about BYU. I really don't. I'm not trolling. I actually do dislike BYU, and I'm not alone. The PAC administrators feel exactly as I do about BYU (yet, as I've said, the BYU professors are mostly amazing and good individuals). (I was actually disappointed in the hostile reaction initially by Husky alumni at Michael Young because of his BYU degree.)

I love Red Leggar, that last paragraph about Okie State is classic.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                        Some comments:

                        (1) If OU bolts to the Pac-12 or something then they may have to do it alone. I wonder how not having Texas tag alone will influence their decision.

                        (2) It seems the Texas legislature has no plans at the moment to do anything according comments in the NYT article. It seems now that Chip is no longer stating the legislature will get involved as he stated before.

                        (3) This rumored partnership between the ACC and the Big 12 is interesting. Are they going to gang up on the SEC and stop scheduling games with them or something? I was wondering when Daddy ESPN was going to get involved. It sounds like he is starting to speak now.

Lol, New Mexico shares more of a border with Texas, Colorado and Arizona. While you're at it, why don't you include Hawaii, Alaska and West Virginia.

Yep, I have said this a few times. It would not be wise for BYU and UT to bite the hand that feeds them. If it wasn't for ESPN BYU wouldn't be an independent right now and Texas wouldn't have a $300M network.
