Yeah, the idea of giving power to the left coast chaffs the hides of folks down south.

I still think the odds are higher a PAC16 occurs just because it makes so much damn sense but, as I've said, it's only slightly higher than 50% because Texas pride runs thicker than blood.

Let's be honest. Utah fans are scared to death of being in an eight-team division with OU and Texas.

Is the Texas legislature threatening to do something again?

They are even more afraid that BYU might make it into the club.

TTU is not going anywhere but the Big East in the event of a B12 breakup. It would be TCU, TTU, Baylor, and SMU.

You can keep attempting that eye-poke... but it isn't gonna work.

The PAC may end up at 16 with Texas and OU, and if it does OK, it does. We will almost inevitably end up with OSU (with OU) and except for academics that's OK too.

I for one don't want TT, and it might be really interesting to see who rounds out the 16.

Speaking only for myself, Texas has already wrecked two conferences, so I'm not loving them coming to the PAC, but they bring huge dollars, so Utah might have very little say in how it comes down.

Personally I'd like to see the Big 12 remain intact in their own region and add BYU, and have the PAC stay in it's own region.

If the PAC 16 is inevitable... I'd rather have BYU included than TT. I'd rather A&M come to the PAC, than UT.

lol. Add CU and UofU, huge value for the conference. Add OU and UT not so much.

No, i've never been charged with fearing the Longhorns. You're confusing my response to that charge with my responses to the prior 17.

Anyway, as BYU fans like to point out, they're 2-0 against Texas. Utah has played BYU dead-even for the last 20 years or so. If we belong on the same field with BYU, we do with the Longhorns too. Off the field, though, Texas just don't seem to play well with others. This concern seems pretty widely shared.

In my view, the state of Texas will not "write off" Texas Tech. Tech does wield some political muscle in the state legislature. Since Tech is a public university, they will have their advocates in not letting it sink to C-USA. Basicially, it would amount to much less revenue for Tech and essentially giving that revenue over to Texas and A&M who are already the richest schools. And the gains made by UT and A&M may be more than offset by losses to Tech if they land in C-USA. Texas is investing in Tech right now trying to make it closer to UT and A&M because Texas is losing a lot of talented HS graduates who are attending college out of state because of enrollment limits at UT and A&M and they have better options than Tech.

I think Tech is hitched to UT stronger then most might think. Back when the Longhorns were exploring their options in the Big Ten, there was a memo made public that mentioned UT's "Tech problem". The problem was that while Texas and A&M were academically acceptable to the Big Ten, Tech was not. And that was a problem for Texas because all three are public schools. With A&M out of the Big 12 picture, I think the ties between UT and Tech are stronger not weaker.

I'll bet USC wouldn't be using that excuse. You don't see OU complaining how awful it is be in the same conference as Texas. They have done just fine.
