But the academic freedom/religion/non-research institution issues still remain. I thought that made BYU a non-starter a year ago, so I don't know what has changed. I would think Kansas would make more sense.Originally posted by Viking View PostThis dog hunts. A 16 team league diffused the no Sunday play significantly.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

No. All focused on TX, OU. Viking is the first one to mention BYU as a partner, which is why it sounds fishy. If the LHN is an obstacle to the PAC16, imagine what difficulty there would be for BYUTV. BYUTV is not going away - it has to be accomodated by any new conference we join.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostYou have seen tweets that include BYU in the PAC 16?"It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. I wouldn't know the first thing about a tweet.Originally posted by kccougar View PostIs this all coming from today's Tweets? Because everything I have seen today sounds a lot like empty air.
It's that OU is thinking of moving and that draws OSU and UT. BYU fills the gap. The PAC12 aversion to BYU is as overrated as Anika Kournikova

Anna Kournikova is not overrated. She is HAWT!Originally posted by Viking View PostI wouldn't know the first thing about a tweet.

So these are your buddy's theories or he actually heard something about BYU in PAC16 talks? Because it just doesn't sound right.Originally posted by Viking View PostI'm telling you what my buddy has said. He's been dead right and You heard it first here. There is no effing way that BYU will ever be in a Pac 16. Who the hell is going to stick up for BYU and hold the line once the smelly hippies from Kal come on board and veto the idea? Texas and OU sure as hell aren't going to say "you don't get us without BYU." Texas and OU will instead say "fine, how about Kansas instead?"Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Tech is not a fit. Baylor sucks. Smu sucks. Houston sucks.Originally posted by Babs View PostBut the Big 12 connection suggests six other potential gap-fillers. Why BYU? Wouldn't they want a second Texas team?
Kansas and KSU (mizzou too) go to big ten with ND possibly. That's my conjecture.
You guys are way too dismissive of the PAC12 as an option.
I had lunch with Tommy ten years ago in SF (tadich) and I asked Tom if we could ever get in and he said we'd see it one day...
