I think this could be a difficult decision.
If BYU to the Big XII is simply BYU replacing A&M, then going to the Big XII (with the 9 other schools) is a no brainer.
If BYU to the Big XII includes adding 2-3 other schools and the recreation of a North and South Division (with BYU relegated to the less than attractive North Division and the looming possibly of losing Missouri), that's not nearly as ideal. That’s a tougher decision.

I agree. If missionary potential is the issue, going to a BIG-12 is much better than independence as it currently stands. Assuming BYUtv gets the same freedom going forward, I see the biggest issue for BYU being the long-term stability of the BIG-12. If they don't sense that Texas and OK are committed, then I can see them walking away.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI agree about that. I think that if that were an impediment we would know that BYU was off the table months ago. I don't think the Big-12 views it as an impediment.
I just honestly don't understand the hand-wringing that BYU would say to the Big-12 "no thanks!" BYU has always demonstrated the desire for more exposure and a higher profile. Clearly, the folks who understand the ins and outs of college sports at BYU (Holmoe, Mendenhall, Rose and to a lesser extent Cecil O.) know that this would be beneficial to the bottom line financially and maximize exposure and BYU's profile. Mormons love that shit. If they can have it while being excused from Sunday play, which brings all sorts of attention to their sunday play excusal, it would make their nipples hard enough to pole vault.
I think as long as BYU can keep its Sabbath Day holy, the BYU admin will view it as a no-brainer and I struggle understanding why others think they might.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

BYU versus Mizzou annually? That shit makes my nipples hard! Even Sidney Rigdon would repent and come back to home team for an annual shot at the Pukes!Originally posted by Scorcho View PostI think this could be a difficult decision.

I don't get that either? So the Big-12 explodes in one, two, three years? Then BYU is right back where they are and likely with some relationships with teams in the exact same situation who are far more fun to schedule in football and hoops than New Me-hee-coho State and the mighty, mighty Vandals of Idaho. I would rather see KSU in Provo in November.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostI agree. The only relationship that matters at that point is the one with ESPN. We might be more valuable to them as an independent. In the Big12 collapse scenario, I'm not exactly sure we can pick up right where we left off with them.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI don't get that either? All that said, we go if invited.

My guess is ESPN prefers BYU in the Big-12 and IMO, the whole purpose of the ESPN relationship was to move things in that direction. I think this has been in the works since last summer.Originally posted by TheAzzuri View PostThe only relationship that matters at that point is the one with ESPN. I'll definitely jump on that bandwagon.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostMy guess is ESPN prefers BYU in the Big-12 and IMO, the whole purpose of the ESPN relationship was to move things in that direction. I think this has been in the works since last summer.
But we're the junior partner in the relationship and IFwe're more valuable to them as is for scheduling purposes and IF we see that the BIG12 collapse is imminent, I could see that being an issue, moreso than hesitation from the COB.
Again, I think we go if invited. And I agree the Sunday play thing is a non-issue.

quick question for anyone in the know. Can the rest of the big 12 kick TAMU out? You know a "you can't quit we fire you" action. That would be hilarious especially since the its not definite they can go to the SEC."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point.
