SMU lost to Army last year. Now I know that women get moist at the thought of interacting with the flat bellied barrel chested combat killin' machines that West Point churns out, but Army has had 2 winning football seasons since I entered the Academy over 21 years ago.

It is all these disaffected intellectuals who have built up, in their own frenzied minds, some strange expectations of the BYU decision makers.

Do they not bleed when they are cut? If they have lung issues and have to pump some shitty ass schwinn all around East Germany, dodging unexploded ordinance, to deliver laundy are they not miraculously healed? Are not they disproportionatly represented by University Presidents who understand the bottom line$$? It is after BYU is accepted that I start to get worried. I wonder if in 10 years beating the shit out WYO and SDSU enroute to 10 wins might be a really pleasant memory....beware of what one wishes for!

It has long been my hope is that this would encourage BYU to reevaluate the "Lavell Method" of HC enforcement.

If BYU to the Big XII is simply BYU replacing A&M, then going to the Big XII (with the 9 other schools) is a no brainer.

If BYU to the Big XII includes adding 2-3 other schools and the recreation of a North and South Division (with BYU relegated to the less than attractive North Division and the looming possibly of losing Missouri), that's not nearly as ideal. That’s a tougher decision.

That could be the difference between saying "YES!" and waiting 0.3ns to say "YES!".

Being 'relegated' to the North would be AWESOME. BYU would be the favorite to win it in football every year - and facing the winner of the Red River Shootout every year in a prime-time exclusive Big XII Championship game.

And Big XII north basketball would make BYU BB tickets the hardest 'get' in town.

My guess is ESPN prefers BYU in the Big-12 and IMO, the whole purpose of the ESPN relationship was to move things in that direction. I think this has been in the works since last summer.

Yup. They'll keep the contract with BYU for all their non-conference games. The Big XII will become the conference of 'exposure' - where the TV contract specifies a number of games that will be broadcast nationally each week, and games not picked up by the network will be allowed to be broadcast by team networks. And THIS will be what gets Notre Dame to sign on as a member of the restored Big XII. We'll get those Catholics supporting a restoration one way or another!

(And for those who insist that ND will go to the Big Ten or nowhere - ND adds NO HOUSEHOLDS to the Big Ten's footprint (Chicago metro, plus other population centers in midwest all consider ND their 'local' team - the entire area is already covered in the Big Ten footprint). Yes, ND has a significant national following, but such a following isn't the driver in a conference TV contract that geographic footprint is. National Following + footprint is worth A LOT more to the Big XII than the Big Ten. And they will pay for it - mainly with liberal allowances for ND (and UT and BYU and anyone else) to have side TV deals for noncon games, and league games not covered by ESPN nationally. And, as an added bonus, it will absolutely piss off every other big program in the country that doesn't have the benefit of such deals. ESPN would definitely be taking a risk, but think of the absolute chaos they would cause within the PAC-12 & Big Ten TV contracts/networks. Overnight, programs like OSU, Michigan, Penn State, USC, Oregon, etc would be clamoring for renegotiation of their deals. They'd all become the selfish a$$holes that everyone has talked about UT being for the last couple years. Everyone else in their 'safe' leagues would hate their guts - and they'd suddenly be the 'unstable' ones. ESPN would become the market maker - like Louis and Billy Ray buying up futures contracts at the end of Trading Places...)
