BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston are the four schools that have been most seriously discussed and are considered the leading contenders, sources said. The Athletic previously reported the Big 12 was seriously considering BYU as a potential addition early on in this process.
If the athletic directors and presidents of the league’s eight remaining members can reach a consensus on which members to invite, sources believe it’s possible that the process could move faster than initially anticipated.BYU, an FBS independent in football whose other sports compete in the West Coast Conference, could potentially be brought in as a football-only member. There has been more debate around Houston than the other three. The Big 12 had previously been reluctant to embrace the school as an expansion candidate. One source said there now appears to be growing support for setting politics aside and accepting that inviting Houston is what’s best for the conference’s long-term strength.
Several more Group of 5 programs are interested in joining the Big 12, but these four have emerged as the initial favorites."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Football only? No way. I want all sports in the Big12. Would love for BYU basketball to play in the Fertitta Center every year."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I would be shocked if they did a football only deal. BYU is probably better than all the other schools in olympic sports and the sunday play thing is totally overblown. It would be incredibly dumb for them to take BYU in football only.Originally posted by Moliere View PostFootball only? No way. I want all sports in the Big12. Also:As far as its new league members, the Big 12 prefers to add all-sports members and not football-only members, a source said.

Sources said it’s possible BYU could join the Big 12 as early as the 2022 season and then the three American Conference teams — Cincinnati, Houston and UCF — may not join until a year or two later."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Same. Unless contracts are signed, I'm planning on watching the Cougars at Autzen, seeing Arkansas come to Provo, and going to Palo Alto on Thanksgiving weekend in 2022.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostNot falling for Lucy's bullshit trick again. Wake me up when it happens.

I fell for it in 2010 and in 2016. I swore a few weeks ago that I wouldn't fall for it again. But the past few days I've started getting my hopes up high once again. The following article has me thinking about the great match ups. Just in our division (as projected in the article): TCU and Oklahoma State in football. Texas Tech and Kansas in Basketball.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostNot falling for Lucy's bullshit trick again. Wake me up when it happens.
A possible Big 12 Conference realignment would be:
Big 12 West: Texas Tech, BYU, TCU, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Kansas State.
Big 12 East: Baylor, Houston, UCF, Iowa State, Cincinnati and West Virginia.

Less than six weeks after Texas and Oklahoma announced their impending departure to the SEC, the league is poised to add four new members in a process that could culminate in one week’s time. UCF, Houston, BYU and Cincinnati are expected to apply for Big 12 membership next week and then could be approved for admission in a meeting of Big 12 presidents Sept. 10, multiple sources tell Sports Illustrated.
The league has the eight votes needed for expansion.“Now that the names [of the potential new additions] are out, I’d think that will expedite the process,” said one Big 12 source."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"
