Pete Thamel knows what's what:
Originally posted by Very Smart ManExpansion is a potential step, and it appears that BYU and Cincinnati would be the favorites to be invited to the conference if it expanded today.
Originally posted by Very Smart ManBYU: The Cougars football program, which plays as an independent, has the most resonance of any available school. BYU has a national following and a decorated history that includes star quarterbacks Jim McMahon, Steve Young and Ty Detmer. There are issues with BYU, such as the BYUtv network, tough geography and some finicky logistics that come with not playing on Sundays. But those problems can likely be resolved, as BYU has an increased desire to join the league because of the yawning perception gap between the Power Five and everyone else. BYU realizes it won't be treated like Notre Dame as an independent, so this seems like the most logical move for both sides.

It's funny reflecting how stupid the Big 12 was a few years ago. They could have added Louisville and Pitt along with WV. They could have had some semblance of geographic sanity and that region would have added something as far as recruits. And, of course, Louisville won the national title in basketball. What a bunch of idiots.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostPart of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I haven't been keeping up, is this guy trying to say there's support for Houston? Talk to anyone that supports a Big 12 program, and they're totally against it. A lot of them regret adding TCU. It has nothing to do with the quality of the program, but they view it as adding a team that will just steal recruits from a market they already own.Originally posted by falafel View PostNext time Pete Thamel should probably run his stories by the Dude for accuracy.
If the Big 12 expands, Cincy is in. Then the next slot will come down to BYU or Memphis. I mentioned a few weeks ago that Tennessee was the second largest state with only one P5 program, I forgot about Vanderbilt. Having three P5 schools in Tennessee is a stretch, especially when you consider the pull that Ole Miss has on the Memphis area.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Looking like P5 vote will go 6-4 to force #Big12 to have divisions to host CCG, and G5 vote 3-2. #BYU leader for invite, with #UCBearcats #2
And, where is DDD on this stuff? Did he survive the Holy Bowl?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Do you think we should believe GSwaim more than a dude from W. Virginia, or another random dude from Minnesota who apparently claims to speak for the Big Ten who apparently knows what the Big 12 is going to do even more than they do? That's a stretch.Originally posted by Moliere View PostLatest from Gswaim
