"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I'm not sure how to deal with this conflicting information--both seem to be pretty "in the know." Has anyone here had dinner recently with any p5 ADs to confirm?
byumac seems credible. He even admits that in the barrage of information he did manage to assimilate, he wasn't able to completely remember the names of the 13th and 14th schools. Why would he lie about stuff like that?

          • Dennis Dodd gives 5 things to watch for at B12 media days and then curiously references BYU in his synopsis video.

            http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoot...all-media-days

I think he is saying that if BYU were in the B12 this season, they, along with TCU and Baylor, would be at the top of the conference...something that would be cause for embarrassment for OU and t.u.

I think he just mixed up BYU with Baylor... What a dumbass.

              • Bowlsby speaks!

                http://newsok.com/big-12-media-days-...434832/?page=2

At the present time, I don’t think there’s critical mass for expansion,” Bowlsby said. “We spend at least a little time in every meeting talking about it. But until that majority shifts, it’s a purely academic conversation.”
Bowlsby said there was a small group of presidents that were strongly opposed to expansion and a small group that were sharply for expansion “but there are four or five in the middle who are persuadable.”

                • Don't expand, just schedule better OOC

                  http://www.sbnation.com/college-foot...otball-playoff

The response from the Big 12 appears to be considering adding teams. In a quintessential absurdity, the decision-makers might add distant members -- which likely have smallish fan bases and would be takers instead of makers, to use a Randian construction -- solely because of one unusual event that occurred last December.

Oh, my bad. I'll try to keep faith the next time señor Brown says something.

                    • BYU Effect? B12 seems intent on creating terrible slogans every season:

                      http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews....ent-mode.html/

One of the more notable elements of Bowlsby’s opening address didn’t come from his remarks. The league’s new slogan: “Every game matters,” glared predominately from the large video board behind him. It replaces the controversial “One True Champion” slogan of recent years. The 2014 season infamously ended with TCU and Baylor as co-champions.
Unlike in other conferences, where only certain games matter....

Translation: Texas does not want the Big 12 to expand at the present time.

Cute that Bowlsby pretends that there's some kind of majority rule in the Big 12. Like Iowa St, Kansas, Kansas St., Oklahoma St., Baylor, and Texas Tech could somehow block what Texas and OU want to do in the Big 12.

                          • Pinkel sez no conference championship game then no playoff for you... Or is he saying that ND should join the Big 12?

Mizzou coach says Notre Dame shouldn't be eligible for College Football Playoff

Before that, Pinkel stated how important he thought it was that each conference have a championship game, so it stands to reason that he thinks Notre Dame's independence -- and thus no conference championship game -- makes them unworthy of making the four-team field, along with TCU, Baylor, and anyone from the Big 12.

                            • I like it. If Notre Dame is forced to join, it would likely join the ACC given its current relationship. Doing so would only strengthen the ACC, making the unlikely scenario of poaching FSU and Clemson even less likely.

                              Back to: BYU!
