Crisis averted.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIt was a huge point of discussion between BYU and the B12. In the end, the B12 agreed to not play football on Sunday. Tensions were high throughout, though.
Wait...didn't we join the WCC for non-football sports? Has anyone thought about the consequences of leaving that league high and dry?

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

for the lawyers how do the grant or rights work? Couldnt a school like Mizzou get around that by not taking TV rights revenue in lieu of payments by a new conference school?Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
For example, lets say mizzou goes to the SEC and waives their tier 1 share from the SEC but gets a set amount of $$ like OOC games could that be a work around?"Be a philosopher. I don't know about that, but I thought it interesting that this is the same device used by the Pac-12 and B1G.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View Postfor the lawyers how do the grant or rights work? Wow, sounds like Boren jumped the gun a bit. Did anyone ever figure out why Boren became the spokesperson for the Big 12 yesterday (other than speculating it was the other schools throwing him a bone)?Originally posted by myboynoah View Post"Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

It seems like the Expansion Committee for the Big-12 still has a lot of work to do, if it's considering adding Utah.
LOL
http://www.chron.com/sports/article/...ut-2179872.php"Certainly the position of Oklahoma State and I think most of the schools, if not all, is that we want to add a 10th team," said Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis, a member of the league's expansion committee. He listed TCU, Houston, SMU, BYU, Utah and Air Force among the potential expansion targets before saying "we've talked about a lot of ideas."

I'm just piecing it all together in my mind, and I have come to the conclusion that if BYU is offered, they won't turn it down:Originally posted by Pelado View PostHelp thou my unbelief.
-BYU went independent in part (according to Bronco Mendenhall) to be available for, and make itself attractive enough to, accept a bid to an AQ conference.
-BYU's AD office goes on lockdown once this all began to happen. Why? Because they want real negotiations that will result in a positive invitation for BYU, not a media circus where egos are involved that ends poorly for BYU.
-BYU is always claiming the importance of exposure because BYU sports, particularly football as the University's marquee program, are a missionary tool. Why then, if given the opportunity to have maximum exposure as a member of the Big 12, would they turn it down? You can't claim exposure is the #1 priority on Monday and then turn down an opportunity to have more exposure on Tuesday. It just doesn't add up.
I think BYU is being smart by keeping quiet. My best guess is that President Samuelson's comments last night were made in an effort to not avoid the questions, yet not get people too excited in case an offer doesn’t come. I think that when it's all said and done the BOT will do what is best for BYU...and I (as many of you) have a very difficult time grasping the concept that the Big 12 is not what is best for BYU.
