That's my understanding (WV having to forfeit their media rights). If memory serves correct, Big 12 ammended their by-laws to try and keep the conference together after aTm and Missouri left. BTW, this (conference controlling media rights) was a consession Nebraska requested and Texas denied prior to Nebraska leaving and a big factor on why aTm began discussions with the SEC.

Also, it's my understanding that the ACC unofficially turned down WV before they joined the Big 12. Besides, the ACC is already at 14 teams with the addition of Louisville, Pitt, and Syracuse (after losing Maryland to the B1G). For those keeping score at home.

Good hell, how did I miss that. Obviously I'm a poor score keeper. In that case, maybe the ACC, B1G, and SEC can pressure the Big-12 and PAC-12 to go to 14 as well. BYU is a shoe in...

      • I always love when conf expansion talks start to include San Diego or other such schools. Who was the guy that wanted San Jose St because so many people live there?

My all time fave was SU hyping Nee Mexico as an ideal partner for the P12/14.

I think BYU's only hope for Big 12 inclusion would be for the playoff committee to mandate a CCG and not grant Notre Dame an exemption. Then Notre Dame and BYU could join the Big 12 and offer joint condolences after Jim Delany's heart attack.

Ah, Whitney64. He was more fun to troll than just about anybody.

I'm pretty sure "tl;dr" was invented because of Whitney64.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. I guess you don't count the Pac-10 as a power conference? The Arizona schools are in the Mountain time zone, although they don't use Daylight savings time, so their clocks match the Pacific zone for much of the football season.

Yes, but if you could get through the wall you could find some awesome nuggets of insanity. I'm still not convinced that he and kugrmaniac were different people.

Right. That's what I was thinking. Either that or I was thinking of the original Pac 8. Whichever makes me look smarter.

I had an epic troll with him. I don't remember much about the details, but the topic of church came up and I went out and found some guys 50-page dissertation on the Abomination of Desolation and posted it as my response to him (at the time, I'm sure it was the longest post in CB history). He had to have spent 4 hours at least reading the whole thing (this started at like 10:00 at night) and then ended up going through line-by-line and answering my post. I think by the time he actually responded to it was after 4:00 in the morning. After he hit "post" he couldn't find his post because the thread above him had been deleted. He went postal on El Jefe.

I remember few CB trolls, but that one for me was one of my favorite. That guy was an idiot.

I guess football only makes it a remote possibility but I still don't see it.

Of the power conferences, I believe only the SEC and the Big 12 were in two time zones before realignment. And the Big 12 only had Colorado outside of the Central. Now 4 of the 5 are in two time zones but none are in 3 and I don't think they ever will be.

The Big-12 could go and get Cincinnati, UCF, or USF. Deep down my wish is for the ACC to go to 14 and WVU bails from the Big-12.
There is no chance in hell the ACC would ever add WVU. WVU doesn't come close to meeting their academic standards.
