Gah! Why so closed on the subject from BYU?
I still think it is out of BYU's hands.

They probably have an invite, if Missouri walks.

BYU is to Missouri as Utah was to Texas: Plan B

    • Big 12 is not considering any other Texas schools. So that is nice.

But that doesn't really matter at this point right? With TCU jumping over, the Big East is even more unstable and it makes it more likely the Big 12 go with 2-3 Big East teams to get to 12...if they are even interested in getting to 12.

I want to believe we still have a good shot. But it has always made sense to me that our best chance was to be the 10th school and the first one in. I don't like our chances as #11 or #12. Please prove me wrong, BYU.

              • Help me with my assumptions. Where am I wrong?

                1. Big 12's not going to go to 11. Either 10 or 12 or more.
                2. BYU invite now depends on MO leaving or adding more teams.
                3. MO leaving appears unlikely or at best uncertain.
                4. Adding more teams could be very possible, but announcing TCU first implies there's some uncertainty that will happen.

So BYU joining Big 12 is uncertain at best unlikely at worst.

                • I wonder if TCU was added in an effort to entice Missouri to stay. It would give them yet another trip to Texas every other year for recruiting.

I wonder if Dave Rose is going through the same emotional roller coaster that all of us are going through right now.

                    ... this year.

Other conferences are still getting bigger. I think the Big 12 will eventually, if not this year, decide they need at least 12 just to stay relevant.

Why do our insiders remain so confident?

Just like we said last year. Then they invited TCU.

I know we are predisposed to stringpulling but do you honestly believe that BYU doesn't understand this? I believe BYU knows exactly what BYU fans want and BYU wants that to happen. What BYU doesn't care about is whether or not the fans know every detail about how, when, where or why it is all coming about. BYU is quiet. I am not so sure that is such a bad thing. If their coaches could stay quiet about expectations it might be better for many of us.

Yes, there's not assurance that BYU would be in the second wave of invitees. I'm just saying that what might be true this year could change next year.

Missouri was not in on voting to invite TCU, Big 12 says. Abstained on advice of legal counsel.
