I guess we're looking at it from the wrong side of the aisle.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostYou are the one suggesting the big 12 should court utah and I'm the crazy one?
Of course it makes sense for the Big-12 to court Utah. (since Utah is so fantastic and all)
Of course it makes sense for Utah to laugh in the Big-12's face.
Everyone happy?
All I meant by posting this is that the exploratory committee probably hasn't gotten very far if they're throwing the name "Utah" around as a possibility.

Sure you could find a possible positive or two for any pac-12 team including colorado. Why even waste each others time though?Originally posted by Sizzle View PostBecause they've been with Colorado and Colorado chose to leave prior. That relationship has already ended in a divorce. It's not happening.
If you're the Big 12, why not approach it? You know they have a natural rivalry with BYU. If it could mean more money for the University, they would have to at least listen to the proposal, right? I mean, I agree with Jacob in that I think the chances of Utah giving it more than a seconds thought are slim, but if you're the Big 12, what harm is there in exploring?"Be a philosopher. According to Cougarstats, BYU has played on Sunday 4 times. They are 1-3 in those games.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostHas anyone analyzed whether it's even possible for BYU to join the Big 12 and not play Sunday? How can BYU receive that irrevocable permanent commitment (how could the 12 settle for less?) with all that is going on with media, tournaments, etc.?
Maybe BYU isn't destined to be a BCS school just as it's not destined to be a research schoool.

The Big 12 is looking for more than just one team...
The rumor of Utah going to the Big 12 with BYU now has legs. But the league expects to expand to 12 teams quickly. And it will likely take the conference into different time zones.
A committee of the league’s athletic directors and presidents will be formed to find targets to expand the conference. Both Castiglione and Texas athletic director Deloss Dodds will be on the committee. Boren said the presidents agreed to not talk publicly about the three teams the conference will target.
“We want anybody we look at for expansion to know they were our first choice,” Boren said.
BYU, Louisville, West Virginia and TCU have been widely reported as potential targets. Only TCU is in the central time zone."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

Um, are they really trying to lure Utah to come with BYU? They are obviously talking about Utah in that quote.
Why not? We were due for our daily dose of bizarre, anyway, right?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Why isn't this point getting more run?Originally posted by Jacob View PostAfter all, for the P12's sacred "culture of equality" (which is a nice spin for "Texas didn't want to join our conference), Utah sure is getting a lot less equal deal than the rest of the P12 teams in terms of revenue sharing.
Never mind. I know why it isn't get any run by Ute fans.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
