The headline says B12 "might" not be an option. That is correct. It might not, but most likely is an option.

This quote is also crafted to seem critical, yet it simply states the obvious

If the Cougs do back away, the report said TCU could replace them as the favored team to become a new 10th member of the league. The Horned Frogs are planning to leave the Mountain West Conference for the Big East after this season, but the report said those plans could be on hold.
Again, this statement appears to be accurate to me. If BYU does walk away, then TCU might be an option, but it also might not be an option. And in either case, BYU has to walk away first.

Jimmer All Stars game was fun, happy I went.

      • Has anyone analyzed whether it's even possible for BYU to join the Big 12 and not play Sunday? How can BYU receive that irrevocable permanent commitment (how could the 12 settle for less?) with all that is going on with media, tournaments, etc.?

Maybe BYU isn't destined to be a BCS school just as it's not destined to be a research schoool.

Edit: by the 12 I meant the apostles.

Could be true... Thank heavens I have Fantasy Football to distract me from all of this... or I guess I could actually start putting in effective days of work again.

            • If they want to add a team immediately, BYU is one of the only options as they are not tied to any conference. Although I wonder if TCU Couldn't walk away from their entrance to the B East, considering the changed circumstances.
Based on what Bronco and Holmoe have said over the past year and in the past few days, I still believe what I believed last year. That we will jump all over a B12 invite and that we told the WCC upfront that we were ditching them as soon as an invite came.

Fear not. I've analyzed it and it is, indeed, possible.

Damn. Why hasnt anyone thought of the Sunday Play issue??? It seems like we would have beaten this issue to death in the last year, but we're on the cusp of an invite and SU drops this bomb on us. Thanks for nuttin' SU. If the whole lawyering bit doesnt work out for you, you definitely have a future at Headline News.

I hope this isn't about them worrying about Monday night basketball.
I have heard MWC schools complain that byu and to some extent utah dictated the mwc. What exactly did they do? The bball tourney was in vegas and the conference office was in Denver. In fact the mwc tourney was never in salt lake (3 years it was in denver).

I guess we (BYU and Utah) were just stupid in how we dictated.
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

SU working overtime to quiet the Big 12 rumors. An invite must be imminent.

Not possible with liberal strongholds like Waco, Stillwater, Columbia and Manhattan having a say.

No. Nobody has thought about this.

EDIT: Soccer Man and Jacob have thought about it. Nobody else has.
