Because this administration answers to god and not the fans. Except this is the second time we've heard this. Why is Samuelson the only one talking? I would think someone would be able to get a good tip somewhere from someone in the administrationOriginally posted by Green Monstah View PostMaybe. No respectable news outlet would rely on CB as a source and alumni heads would probably be told to keep it on the down low. Ugh.
Also, Everything Bronco says sounds like he wants and is looking forward to eventually playing in a BCS conference. I can't imagine him saying that without expecting it is a possibility. For all sports though? I have no clue, just trying to make sense of it, if true.Originally posted by Moliere View PostWouldn't our travel be less? This year alone we've already gone to Mississippi and Texas. Well be back in Texas in October. The only thing I can see is them not wanting to be the little fish in a big pond. They won't be able to dictate the conference like they did the WAC and MWC, which is a stupid reason. I hope this isn't about them worrying about Monday night basketball.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Sure, it will be more expensive for basketball, but I think that can be made up with home games against Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and OSU. Selling out the Marriott Center during conference play will be huge and we won't have to sell $1 tickets to do it. I doubt we sell out when San Diego or Pepperdine come to play although we might sell out with Gonzaga.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostFor all sports though? It appears it's completely acceptable journalistic behavior to simply RT the tweet of some unemployed slob that uses their mother's 8086 and a 56k modem and pass it off as a legitimate development in the conference realignment story.Originally posted by SteelBlue View PostAs much as I love Twitter, it's made for some increasingly sloppy journalism.
I haven't seen this much disinformation since Dan Rather was a news anchor.

There appears to be a big disconnect between what we consistently hear from Holmoe and Mendenhall, and tidbits that keep leaking out from Cecil - the closest we can get to the BOT.
In addition, everything I hear from my former media colleagues indicates an expectation that BYU is on the verge of ironing out the details to join.
It's hard to imagine that the AD is running around having renegade negotiations and conversations if CS and the BOT are so deeply "concerned" about the BCS. I think there are only two plausible explanations:
1. Samuelson and the BOT are much more disconnected from this process than we might think, and have basically given total autonomy to Holmoe to deal with the Big 12. However, they'll be very slow to give approval even after Holmoe works his ass off to get a deal done.
2. Samuelson is just regurgitating safe talking points when confronted with questions about the Big 12 (I seriously doubt he's bringing it up on his own), and is pouring the cold water because he knows a lot of cougarboard-type heads would explode if he said anything reasonably positive about the Big 12 - especially if something happens to ultimately scupper the deal.
At this point I'd say the latter is more likely, because I just can't imagine the former being the case... unless somebody can come up with a third option...

This is all getting too ridiculous... I'm angry at so many people, and the worst part is, I haven't been able to enjoy the team even playing... everything is just angering.Originally posted by LiveCoug View Post
I do feel a little bad for Holmoe and Samuelson, we've got enough crazy BYU fans to put a major jogjam on their email accounts. Hopefully it's a sign at least, that this is on the top of Cougarnations minds, and the wrong decision could cause a backlash of epic proportions. I'm sick of being a fan of a team that will never get a chance, and if the opportunity was there and not taken, my rabid interest will definitely wane. If we're not invited that's one thing, but if we botch an opportunity... I couldn't take that.Last edited by PolyCougar; 09-22-2011, 10:10 PM.

Dammit Indy, I never liked when you just posted links with no explanation. Couldn't you have left that practice with your old identity?Originally posted by GrizzledVeteran View PostAin't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
