Saying that I do think the impact on personal lives (i.e. Brandon Davies trauma) is something people are concerned about. I am interested to see how that incident dulls the sharp edges of some administration goals to demonstrate uniqueness. I think the attention of the hoops team was intoxicating and the incident will push folks, despite all the blather from Bronco and Holmoe about money from strangers and recruiting opportunities, more toward enforcing things more in your and mine kind of way.
I will say BYU has done a much better job of keeping HC violations or the exact nature of them under wraps. Davies was an unfortunate case because of the limelight that was on the program and his prominence.

I think that they found the limelight so intoxicating, and the personal trauma that Brandon had to endure shook many up. I don't think BYU can give up the intoxication of the hope/dream that that type of exposure and limelight can come again, so I think the trauma will force them to be a little softer in future enforcement.

Preach it bro. I want my Legacy Status (humblebrag) to be with more than getting great seats to "dance around world" or whatever it is called.

When good years become 8-4 and bad years go to 5-7, your Legacy Status will get you chair back...and all the leg room you ever wanted!

BYU goes to the B12, I'll buy back my legacy seats, give a tidy sum and fly in for home games from Brazil/NY.

            Hell, I might even convert!

              • Chip Brown on the Missouri situation...

9:30 AM MONDAY - The Aggies will have a celebration tonight in College Station with SEC commissioner Mike Slive in attendance.

A source close to Texas A&M says the SEC felt compelled to make the Aggies official on Sunday afternoon because of a "comfort level the Big 12 will not spiral out of control" and because of A&M's game this week against Arkansas at Cowboys Stadium.

The SEC apparently read into Big 12 interim commissioner Chuck Neinas' comments on Friday to reporters on a conference call that the Big 12 could still be viable, even if Missouri left.

But two Big 12 administrators told Orangebloods.com that they disagree with Neinas and don't think the Big 12 is viable without Missouri.

The sources I've talked to about the Missouri situation say MU's Board of Curators are getting a lot of feedback from alums and boosters to go to the SEC because of the instability and lack of trust in the Big 12.

Obviously, this is a wild situation because you have Missouri chancellor Brady Deaton heading the Big 12 Board of Directors and trying to help save the league. And you have Deaton's own curators possibly waffling on their desire to be in the Big 12.

This situation is far from resolved.

Neinas is expected to go to Missouri this week and meet with MU officials. It could be his most important moment as interim commissioner, look for MU to state its intentions at some point after Neinas' visit.

I'm kinda pissed that you gave up the legacy status. Now that I'm going back to Utah, I gotta score some good seats and I don't have the cash for legacy status yet.

Anyway, you are FOS on this conversion thing, though I do believe you would fly in for Texas at BYU.

                      • More from Chip Brown...

I don't the Missouri stuff is resolved. I think the MU board of curators are starting to get edgy and possibly leaning toward the SEC even with Brady Deaton leading the efforts to help save the Big 12.

I think interim commissioner Chuck Neinas should have been more careful on Friday when he told reporters on a conference call that he thought the Big 12 could still be viable without Missouri.

Missouri was already upset that OU called a press conference on Thursday at 6:30 after Brady Deaton had a press conference called for 6:45 that night.

It's little stuff like this that is blowing up into big stuff and causing people on the board of curators who want to show everyone how powerful they are that ends up with schools moving conferences (see Texas A&M - that situation was totally driven by their board of regents; and OU's board tried to muscle its way out of the B12 as well).

As far as possible 10th schools - I think TCU is definitely in the mix. Among the Big East schools, Louisville is probably the leader. BYU is a hard one to read because I keep hearing the Cougars value their newly found independence more than people realize.

But the Big 12 needs to hear from Mizzou soon because we are basically right back where we were on Sept. 2 when OU's Boren shot his mouth off about the Sooners looking at their conference options. Until Mizzou commits, the momentum of B12 stabilizing can be disrupted.

Agreed. It's great if they want to stay, but if they are going to try to join the "look how important we are!" game that will lead to increased factions in the Big 12, I think you let them go. Only keep those that are committed, and bring in those that are committed.
