Landpoke... I slam Wyoming a lot, but like you man. I gotta remember the few that really got under my skin don't represent all of the Cowboys. Good seeing you around.
No worries. The day I start taking this stuff seriously or personally is the day I need to leave. And yes, we've got our share of dickheads. Just not as many as you guys.
There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.
Tila Tequila and Juggalos, America’s saddest punchline since the South.

Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes afterwards
My hunch is OU may take their sweet time with all this. Why not let the PR focus return to Ken Starr?
The whole thing is bizarre. Maybe the Big-12 will adopt "Hotel California" as their official conference theme song.
I believe OU said they might not decide on anything for 3 weeks or so. I think OU is bluffing and may be holding out to get ESPN to help them out with the OkieU network to get it off the ground. They may get what they ask for. Note that the LHN is still not available in most of Texas.

I have come to the conclusion in the last couple of days that the super conference idea is dead on arrival.
Why? Three words: School-specific networks.
The whole point of a super conference (absolute maximized TV revenue) flies out the window as soon as two things happen:
1- A certain critical mass of big-time programs build up HD network capability.
2- Broadband TV distribution and availability hits a tipping point and overtakes the traditional network/cable/satellite model.
Think about it. At that point a fan of a major team will get anywhere, anytime instant access to their school's own network/games. There will be no distribution barriers, carrier contracts, channel limitations, etc. On top of that, the schools will be able to have total ownership and control of every associated revenue stream.
Major networks like ESPN will still exist simply for the purpose of consolidating audiences for the biggest games. And, conferences/alliances will exist in some form for scheduling convenience and minor sports. But, the whole concept of these massive, exclusive super conferences being tied together by common networks and shared TV revenue will be totally obsolete at that point.
These have been my thoughts exactly. If the Big 12 can survive this weird family fight they've got going on, I think their way of Networks per school is going to be the way of the future. Ratings and markets drive it all. Giving a school a chance to collect it's own without having to share isn't a bad deal at all (unless your at a tiny school with no interest). It'll probably end up like the Networks and their affiliates now do in TV.
I think the PAC was smart with the regional networks. But when the ratings sheets come in and the California version of the Networks proves that it deserves a whole lot more, it'll probably make some of them wonder about the Big 12 version... just thinking is all.
Here you go PolyCougar... This was posted on the OB board by someone that claims to have a source:
Edit: Apparently this is being confirmed over at the Shaggy Bevo. In addition, ESPN may be helping OU out with starting their own network like they did with UT.
I doubt OU dropped 5 million into their network 2/3 weeks ago just to take off to the PAC
I'm just posting this here so all the people who called BS and flamed me for passing along a second-hand Samuelson quote can now do the same to Greg Wrubell.

Except that particular quote is more than three months old.
"It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

He later clarified.

The President Samuelson comment is from the video to which I linked; contextually, I presume the comment was made circa beginning of July.
One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

I believe religion has much inherent good and has born many good fruits.

Then he followed it up with this:

I believe you passed along your quote as being much more current.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
I believe you passed along your quote as being much more current.
I don't know why that would make any difference.
It's not like Samuelson et al suddenly changed their minds over the Summer. If anything, the Cirque du Big 12 we've seen in the last two weeks has probably only solidified the opinion expressed in the Wrubell tweet.
But, none of us are in the room when the decisions are made...
