But if the fans of the individual teams are the only ones watching the games, what difference does the populations on the pacific coast make? This isn't cable subscriptions that even people in the market pay for even if they don't watch games. I guess I don't understand how streaming benefits them if it is harder for the casual viewer to watch.

More people who are likely to tune in to PAC games if/when the conference gets its act together.Originally posted by USUC View Post

Yeah, I have been waiting for YouTube TV to roll out that feature... That is the day I cut the cable.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
It’s better than nothing, but The fun thing about college football is switching back-and-forth between multiple games. YouTube TV is supposed to be rolling out a new feature where you can have a grid of multiple games/channels at once. Having to switch to a separate app on your stream box to watch a game sounds like a huge PITA.
An Amazon deal is what you do when you don’t have anything better.

This is a very good point. I often switch to a P12 game when I am channel surfing or monitoring multiple games. Would I switch apps to tune into a P12 game on a streaming service? Maybe for some games, but certainly not as many as I do now.Originally posted by USUC View Post
But if the streaming service is dependent on individual fan bases paying to watch the team, the Pac-12 has a problem in fanbase size doesn't it? There are a couple of programs with a sizeable fan base, but most are pretty small. You can't compare eyeballs on games when they are sired on the major networks because there are a lot of casual fans watching."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I think it is OK. Not sure it is worth $1B though.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostAs for Amazon, have they paid the bill for that Power of the Rings garbage yet? Jeff Bozo could have flown William Shatner to the moon for less.
It is definitely a woke series. I wonder how much that impacted the lukewarm response?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

The PAC12 doesn’t have the pacific coast. The Big10 is now in that area and has gobbled up the biggest market in that area. The PAC12 is in a tough spot if they end up on Amazon. When I’m in my gagarge on Saturday I usually flip between games on YouTube tv. If I see a decent PAC12 matchup (happens rarely) I’ll tune in for a series or two. I’m not going to switch over to another streaming app juts to see what is going on in the PAC12.Originally posted by All-American View Post
The PAC has the pacific coast. That is not a fanbase-size problem.
Yes, they've had poor engagement lately. That says less about their ceiling than it says about their floor. The PAC's bad mismanagement as of late is less a sign that it is incapable of being any good than a sign of how good it could be if it were properly managed."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Apparently there is a lot of optimism among Pac-12 officials and a lot of the west coast media that they will get a deal $5 to $10 million more than the Big-XII. I guess they played the Big-XII because they just renegotiated current deals while the Pac-12 went to the open market. I just can't keep up with all this anymore.

The PAC will be fine. For one, the money difference won’t be all that big. For another, the PAC didn’t really care about money in the first place.Originally posted by USUC View PostApparently there is a lot of optimism among Pac-12 officials and a lot of the west coast media that they will get a deal $5 to $10 million more than the Big-XII.
