No one is using BYU as a measuring stick. We are using them as a reminder of where we were before Larry Scott gave us a chance to elevate our status in the college football world.

It is interesting to look back at how Scott was lauded at the start of his tenure. This is what Wikipedia, as apparently edited by USC fans, now amusingly offers as a summary of his time with the Pac 12 :

On February 9, 2010, Scott announced that the Pac-10 would be considering expanding to twelve schools.[9] The Pac-10 Conference officially became the Pac-12 Conference following the addition of Colorado and Utah on July 1, 2011.

The inaugural Pac-12 Football Championship Game took place in Eugene, Oregon on December 2, 2011.[10]

Scott has been criticized in respect of his leadership. He has been unable to secure a contract for the distribution of the PAC 12 Network with DirectTV, and, most distressing, he has not represented or defended the PAC 12 institutions against overhanded conduct of the NCAA, particularly the handing out of extremely harsh sanctions against USC's football team. Following the disclosure of documents revealing a flawed process by the NCAA and penalties that are inexcusably out of line with established precedent, Scott has been unwilling to approach the NCAA and unable to secure any relief for one of his member institutions, notwithstanding such overwhelming facts supporting throwing out the entire penalties and findings of the NCAA against USC.

Spot on. He doesn't have the tact or creativity to be SU. Instead he's wallowing in the depths of much less talented people like JD or KK.

I find it incredibly unChristian to find joy and satisfaction in the demise of someone or something. Just like JD and KK, Funk can leave the BYU but he can't leave it behind

On the funnier side, I had an aTm fanatic ask me about Utah State's chances in the PAC12 this year. I get at leaset 5 comments/questions like that each football season. I always laugh and play along all while also giving them Utah's chances in the MWC.

it isn't just the USC thing. The PAC 12 network has been a stupid failure compared to the B1G and the SEC. Those two networks correctly based their content around football. The PAC I guess thought there would be a demand for regionalized Olympic sports viewing. I don't give a crap about softball games. Showcase some of your best match ups, figure out this distribution with directv and beyond, and allow people all over to watch PAC football. the gap between the PAC and B1G/SEC is only going to continue to widen as it pertains to revenue. Look, it isn't a good sign when Larry Scott is hiring a strategic consulting firm to come in and basically tell him what to do.

Utah fans like mpfunk (I guess) are too new and don't know any better but I am pretty positive SC, Oregon and fucla, brass aren't sitting around calling Larry Scott a genius.

I remember reports here and elsewhere of Utah fans and media talking about the P12 should get ready for SLC to host the first conf championship game. That worked out well.
