  • I feel bad for Unga. *Even as a Utah fan I enjoyed watching him play - no talk, no demonstration, just hit the hole hard and run back to the huddle after getting tackled. I hope he catches on with some NFL team.

On a personal note, I met Unga a couple of times. He was polite and seemed like a gentleman. Maybe it's because his mom was with him? It seems like he is trying to take the high road by voluntarily leaving school. Hopefully other people will extend him the same courtesy.

the only "powers that be" that would have a problem with it are on S. Temple. Eyring and others might be a bit perturbed by such a rushed repentance.

      I think he's back.
This is too high-profile for the Honor Code not to be enforced pretty stringently. Just my opinion.

      • This includes some nice discussion of what Harvey meant to the team, according to Doman and some of the QBs.

        • So how does this affect the QB battle? I thought with Unga in the backfield BYU could break in Heaps.

You misunderstand honor code enforcement. Were he in school, he could be suspended/expelled, etc. Because he withdrew from school it is a completely ecclesiastical matter now. In fact, when he reapplies to school, his application will not be reviewed by the Honor Code office - it will be reviewed as an academic matter.

            From the D-News:

In past situations dealing with honor code issues, some BYU students, including athletes, in connection with counsel from an LDS Bishop, have withdrawn from school before the university's honor code office officially deals with their case and makes a determination on their standing as a student. In this regard, if that person receives a required ecclesiastical endorsement after one or two semesters, they can return to school without a university ruling on a non-academic issue.
A technicality to be sure but that's the way it works. The same for an athlete as for any other situation. Thus, I agree with whomever said there is a good chance Harvey will be back in the fall.

You may be right - and thanks for the HC info. (I am not a student of it.) I'm just speculating that because it would look pretty bad for him to be back that soon, he won't be. But I know nothing about how these things are decided. It's starting to look like Harvey has a good adviser.

Given this information, it's a stone cold lock that he'll be on the field for the Washington game. Like I said, it should surprise nobody.

                • He will be in the supplemental draft. He has a kid to support.

When I was at BYU there was a womens volleyball player who got pregnant, played the season, managed to make it through the rest of the school year without showing too much, and was back in school in the fall as a single mom. She may or may not have addressed the issue with her bishop.

The question is, will you be a little bitch about it if it does happen like you were when the rumor about Unga was posted on utefans.net a couple years ago?

I have no idea what that even means.

Apparently, however, you'll be an asshole about it right now, won't you?

Truth hurts I guess. You were bitching like a little girl on cougarboard and in cougarboard chat the night it was posted. That was the night I grew so fond of you. You were talking about how BYU was going to cover it up and going off about about all types of stuff that night. You were on top of your game that night PU.

He is always like that, that is his MO. He is a whiny little bitch with everything that relates to BYU. Thats the life of an ALUF it pisses him off that his tithing money supports guys like Harvey Unga and Kyle Van Noy. He obviously does not believe in the repentance process.

I was right. BYU does cover stuff up. It's hard to sweep a pregnant athlete under the rug, though. So, here we are. If not for a growing baby bump, this entire thing wouldn't even be a story.

The truth was on my side. Call it bitching if you are a BYU fan or calling a spade a spade if you are anyone else in the world.

What did BYU cover up? Do you have specific examples this is very similar to what you are saying to me in the Utah recruiting thread. You are just throwing shit out there when you have no clue what you are talking about.

Who's the one engaging in character assassination on a Ute recruit? YOu are the biggest "bitch" of all on this board.

Anytime anyone on this board says anything positive about the Utah program, you come along and engage in your act.

I don't do that with BYU news here. Or on Cougarboard. I'll admit that I used to. Apparently, you still do.
