      • Maybe UT isn't as interested in having TCU in it's conference

        TCU 4, Texas 1
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Aaron Schultz hit a two-run home run to help TCU beat Texas 4-1 Sunday, advancing to the College World Series for the first time in school history.
The Horned Frogs scored (51-12) the first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth when Jason Coats hit an RBI single off Brandon Workman (12-2) down the first-base line to score Taylor Featherson who hit a leadoff double and advanced to third on a throwing error.
Texas closer Chance Ruffin gave up the last three runs on two homers. Schultz sent Ruffin s 2-2 slider over the left-field fence to put TCU up 3-0 in the seventh inning.
Kyle Winkler (12-2) gave up no runs and five hits with five strikeouts in 7 2-3 innings for the Horned Frogs.
Texas (50-13) avoided the shutout in the ninth when pinch-hitter Paul Montalbano scored from second on an error by Jerome Pena.
Congrats to the Frogs on advancing to the CWS.

I doubt Scott was on those flights.

On June 3, the aircraft originated in New York, flew to Salina, Kansas (), then to Carlsbad, CA, then to SLC, and then on back to the East Coast to Groton, Connecticut.

On June 11, the aircraft originated in White Plains, NY and flew to SLC, then on to Pendelton, OR, and then finally to Concord, CA.

Scott then uses the aircraft beginning June 12 when it flies from Concord, CA. to OK City, OK. He's had it since then.

It appears Scott wanted to offer the invitations in person, given the situation with the Big 5, and try to convince aTm to come along.

            • Wilner reports on Kansas or Utah going to the Pac-16.

Pac-10 expansion: And the 16th team is …

Utah and Kansas are the only schools under consideration if the Big 12 breaks up and Texas A&M heads to the SEC. (If the Big 12 sticks together, then the Pac-10 will invite Utah and settle in as a 12-team league.)

And which school — Kansas or Utah — is the leader in the Plan B clubhouse?

“It’s too close (to call) at the moment,” the source said.
And again, another note that BYU is not being considered. That guy must have a bone to pick.

              • Is momentum now moving against a move to the Pac-10 by the Big 5? Is Beebe an amazing salesman?

                Big 12 not dead yet

A source close to the situation told the Journal-World late Sunday night that the Big 12 Conference appears to have moved closer to an agreement with its remaining schools to keep the league together and that Oklahoma University will move to the North Division.

The source said it was unknown whether the Big 12 would move forward as a 10-member league or if it would look to add two new members to replace Colorado and Nebraska, which left for the Pac-10 and Big Ten, respectively, last week.

The news Sunday flew under the radar of reports out of Texas that said Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott was on a plane bound for Kansas City, Mo., to meet with KU officials.

“That’s a back-up plan,” the source said. “It looks like the Big 12 is staying together.”
Who knows who this source is and how realiable he/she might be. Coupled with Texas politicians getting involved, I wonder if the momentum is swinging back toward the Big 12 staying together. Or is this just hopeful reporting out of Kansas?

Back in the late 80s on the Friday night soap opera "Dallas," an entire season of the long-running series was terribly unpopular with the show's fans, very poorly written, and just downright weird. The show's producers fixed that in the first episode of the next season: That bad, bad year was revealed to have been just a dream, and the "Dallas" saga picked up where it had left off 2 years before. I have a hunch that in several Big 12 AD offices people are yelling. "Re-write! Re-write!"

                    • Chip Brown:

Orangebloods.com: According to sources, Texas will announce as early as today that UT will commit to a 10-member Big 12.
Of course, if A&M still goes to the SEC then this might change things.

I'm happy to see that you agree that we need to put a stop to all this expansion and conference-switching crap today! Not tomorrow, not the next day, but today!

                        • There are some rumblings here in Dallas that hog nation is inquiring about coming back to the fold. This makes a lot of sense and may save the Big 12. A&M and Arkansas have a big game here in Dallas every year. This rivalry has some history. If any of this is true then I can see the Big 12 adding BYU and Arkansas and calling it a day. The Pac-10+2 would have CU and Utah.

So the Big 12 will have 10 schools and the Big 10 will have 12. You know, that makes about as much sense as any of this stuff from the last few weeks.
