I hope you're right. I have not even looked at the actual rule, I'm just going on what I have read here. (Hack lawyering, I know.)

I do think that the only thing that saves this from being a total train wreck for Utah and BYU is the chance of piecing something together out of the leftovers.

Is the assumption here that the big10 network wouldn't be as lucrative? Surely there's some clause in the contract that allows negotiation upon the addition of such a big fish? Wasn't the success of the big10 network basically what started all this expansion talk in the first place?

Texas Hold 'Em: Longhorns, A&M to Big Ten

High level sources in multiple conferences have told KCTV5 that Texas and Texas A&M are looking to move to the Big Ten Conference and have petitioned for membership, while the University of Oklahoma is planning on petitioning the Southeastern Conference to become a member of its conference.

Yep. Which is something I hadn't considered until I saw that previous link about Texas and TAMU to the B10.

This all makes a lot of sense, except that I can just about guarantee that Oklahoma State will not go to the Pac 10 absent Oklahoma or Texas. NO. I can guarantee it.

Mine too. I am spinning in circles and right when I think I am coming to a stop, someone grabs me by the shoulders and spins me again.

                        Where am I?

But, if it goes down as that report says, that would leave the Big12 with 6 members and they could still exist as a conference. That would mean good things for BYU and Utah.

Yeah I hope Okie State didn't do anything too rash with the Pac10, or these conferences will be pretty sloppy.

Texas is a huge get for the Big10, and I'm sure Texas will love the academic reputation boost. A&M is no slouch either. Good fit all around. So does the Big10 stay at 14 now or does it grab Pitt/ND/Rutgers/Missouri/Syracuse?

Texas is not going to the big 10. Espn is reporting that UT is talking right now with A&M and that A&M is going to jump with UT to the Pac-10.
