  • Interesting vote over on ESPN.com:

    ESPN.com Poll Results by State

Kansas and New Hampshire are the only strong hold outs. The Dakotas and Rhode Island are toss ups. The Nebraska voting is telling.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Be quiet. I am on my way right now to the Carly Fiorina victory party. Now and then a candidate I support actually wins.

        • Adam Munsterteiger of colorado.rivals.com reports that everything he has heard leads to Colorado having received an invitation.

He also says from what he's hearing, if Baylor gets and invite, it will come at the expense of OK State.

          • Meeting ends, no invitation on the table.

No announcement pending from CU on conference realignment

DENVER -- The CU Board of Regents ended its closed-door meeting Tuesday and Ken McConnellogue, spokesman for the university, said there was no offer on the table from the Pac-10 Conference and that no announcement from the school is on tap.

A report surfaced Tuesday afternoon that the Pac-10 had extended an invitation to CU and the school would have an announcement shortly.

McConnellogue did say fans can be assured that the board and CU administrators are engaged in looking out for the school's best interests in relation to conference expansion.

The regents met behind closed doors with attorneys to discuss the school's options in regards to conference expansion and realignment.

CU athletic director Mike Bohn and Chancellor Phil DiStefano had no comment as they left the meeting.

They get, I think, $.88 for every subscriber in the 8 states within the Big 10 now. Outside of that $0.05. And that isn't going to change should these two teams come into the league.
The teams involved in these discussions have done the math. There are a lot of consultants and experts on payrolls right now. It might not make sense from the outside, but the people calling the shots know what they're doing and they definitely know what the projected finances are.

There's some bad info there. You can bet that with each state/team/new market the BTN gets through expansion, that those pay rates jump from a nickel to the current 88 cents as those areas move from having the BTN on a pay tier to basic cable. That's why Rutgers was the most appealing option early, but why Notre Dame is in the mix now, because the BTN would almost certainly wrangle inclusion on most basic cable packages nationally.

With more alumni in this country than any other conference (a guess, but given the undergrad enrollment numbers of some of these schools, I can't imagine which conference could have more), I don't think the BTN on basic cable is a tough sell, especially in NYC, Boston, Phoenix, Miami and Los Angeles.

I suspect this meeting may have been about this instead:

Orangebloods.com: Colorado expected to get bad news from NCAA APR Wednesday: football and basketball both stand to lose scholarships.

                    [...]

Colorado will be only BCS fball program to get NCAA APR sanctions Wednesday and one of only 2 BCS hoops programs to get sanctioned.
                    Not good timing for CU.

That could explain rumors of an announcement on Wednesday.
