  • Baylor has gone so far as to start lobbying P10 media members, for why they belong in the new Pac 16. http://www.registerguard.com/csp/cms...gue-oregon.csp

This could be a very exciting week of football. The question left now is, are BYU and Utah left out in the cold when all is said and done?

When you add the academics to the finances Texas brings it is a grand slam.

BYU is not in this discussion AT ALL 100% because of academics.

One reason the rumored Pac 16 won't happen is academics. I don't believe the Pac 10 presidents would approve Texas Tech, Baylor or even some others.

Remember, Scott is just a briefcase, a consultant. He's an idiot. His blackboarding scenarios is not reality.

Scott also is not a man of his word. He told Utah it had a deal with the Pac 10.

As I said in the edit to my post, Kansas is a big elephant. Strong academics, certainly roughly comparable to A&M, platinum basketball tradition, football tradition with big potential, and some big metropoluses close by. Kansas will be in the Pac 10.

Is Scott the idiot or are you? One for thinking BYU isn't being considered because of academics and two for you actually believing that Scott told Utah it was a done deal.

You have been pure comedy in this thread.

No, there are many more questions. The Pac 16 is as real is Scott's whiteboard. But I can answer half of this questoin right now for you. lol

I was joking about the deal with Utah. Do you need smiley faces?

Why else is BYU not being discussed? (We know Utah was on one of Scott's whiteboarded scenarios.) When it comes to academics, BYU is an empty suit.

I hope Kansas is left out of the Pac 16, Kansas aligning with BYU and Utah will help make that new renovation of the MWC more nationally powerful.

Utah to the P10 seems to be close to a dead horse at this point, you need to switch you thinking back to how to make the MWC part of the club. Kansas being left out would help that cause.

At least they are wearing a white shirt with the empty suit.

I don't doubt that Utah was on Scott's whiteboard. I think it still is. This will be a very interesting week for college football. I personally don't think the Pac-16 will end up happening.

BYU on the other hand isn't being considered because of the religious affiliation. It is pretty simple.

"At this point" is the key part of this phrase. Utah is very much alive in terms of what will happen.

If Utah wound up in a conference outside the Pac 10 but with Kansas that would be a GREAT consolation priize.

                      • All this fuidity, the wild rumors, etc. is great for Utah. It's exactly unfolding as we should want. Remember, not so long ago the big resistance was the Pac's conservativism. Utah will be there to fill out someone's dance card. We know that at least.

A lot of folks love to play the martyr card on this one, but I think the reality is that the reason BYU's academics suck is because of the religious affiliation. The two don't seem separable. Therefore, those so inclined can look at the situation as religious persecution, while the rest of us can see it as a crappy school rightfully not gaining admittance to a conference that is trying to be academically elite.

I think the PAC10 presidents care about academics. I think they care more about money.
