    Houston

    SDSU

For a 12 team conference. No need to go 16 if you don't have quality teams. If they do want to go 14 then add Air Force and Tulsa. I don't think there are a total of 16 quality schools available for this new conference. I know that SDSU, UNLV and New Mexico could probably be considered "not quality" but you need SDSU and UNLV for their markets and New Mexico brings a really good basketball team to picture.
I do not see them giving up the Denver market completely, I think they will have to add either AF or CSU.

I like this except I don't see how the new conference would leave out AFA. Service academy, decent sports, colorado and armed forces markets. Anyway, just me thinking out loud.

My only thought on the Denver market is that #1 it is a Pro Market to begin with owned by the Broncos and #2 the college team that gets that market is CU. I can see where you are coming from though and when I mentioned this at work that was the first thing a couple of others said to me as well.

I would take AF or CSU over SDSU any day. San Diego is a great place to visit, but it is not a great sports town.

One of my favorite places to see a game is at the Air Force Academy, I absolutely love watching a game at that place but I don't know how much they bring to the table other that in football and it isn't even that much for football. Football is the only sport they really compete at now in the MWC and even in football, Air Force rarely beats BCS teams.

I would prefer to leave out Iowa State and include Fresno State. I would rather have Air Force than New Mexico.

SDSU has the best market in the conference though. Also the recruiting ties. They need a presence in So. Cal.

Very true about the recruiting ties.

Prior to the bum they have coaching their program now, New Mexico wasn't that bad. Also, New Mexico brings a lot more to the table with other sports. Especially basketball and with Kansas and K-St. joining, the basketball with be pretty fun to watch.

Recruiting is huge. Promising kids families they will be playing in that area every other year. Unlv is also a short trip for people in So Cal as well. Both markets needed for the new conference.

Good Point. How valuable is Baylor in all of this then? In the "official conference expansion prediction thread," Eddie Jones almost has me convinced Houston adds nothing. I think this is even more the case if we get the Kansas Schools. So get rid of Houston and add a Colorado team.

Recruiting. It is all about recruiting for Houston and Baylor. Houston and Baylor give you and even bigger presence in Texas. Having 3 teams in the state that arguably has the best recruiting state in the country is huge. Houston is a great market and if they are in a better conference, maybe they start to get more love down there.

It's also a fairly big school with a good alumni base. I think Houston has more potential upside than TCU if they keep winning.

As long as Fresno State is in the mix too, I'm happy. They have a decent market, have a loyal fan base, and are good in many sports.
