This thread is the mecca of Pac 12 media rights discussion. Nobody is as invested in finding out the latest as this group. I always come here if I'm wondering what's the latest rumor or public statement.

Anyone with common sense knows that UCLA/USC as a western atoll in the Big Ten can't last. The situation is totally unstable. What will happen? Who knows. All we know is the status quo can't last. Meat heads have been running their athletic departments, running them into the ground to be accurate. So, there's no reason to believe they have any insight that eludes those of us who look at this situation and say, this is nuts. It can't work logistically, certainly not a situation that maximizes UCLA/USC chances of athletic success.

Look what happened to Silicon Valley Bank. A six year old could understand why that failed. Never assume that people in a position to make important decisions know what they're doing.

Time is on the Pac 12's side.

I agree. Which is why I think the B1G is likely to add some combination of Oregon/UW/Stanford/Cal sooner or later.

You think USC/UCLA will come back? After you add SDSU/SMU/CSU? No way.

Some Ute fan on twitter made a long-winded case that no school has ever left a more academically prestigious conference for a less prestigious conference. Leaving out the fact that he had to fudge the data a bit to make his case, ute fans have taken this to be a new article of faith. But by this logic, there is no way that USC/UCLA would ever come back to the P12.

Spiking footballs no doubt. Like I've said, I anticipate the PAC will stay together under a short term deal. Until UO and UW bolt, might was well stay together (unless of course the money/exposure isn't enough).

I went on and listened to the whole interview. Glaringly, the interviewers never ask Harland if he has had discussions with the Big12 or representatives of the Big12 about moving should PAC survival become untenable. That seems to be the obvious follow up, but nothing. No doubt Harland set limitations on what could be asked and what they would discuss (most of the focus was on the WBB team in the NCAA tournament (kudos to the uofutah this year). He wanted to make his talking points and move on.

What influence does the Pac-12 elite academic reputation have on Arizona's decision? Nine of the 12 current Pac-12 schools are members of the American Association of Universities -- top Tier I research schools. Kansas will be the only AAU school in the Big 12 once Texas leaves.

"That's a big deal," Robbins said. "It's a big deal to the Big Ten, and it's a big deal to us. But at the end of the day, this thing is getting unwieldy. The Big 12 has one AAU, Kansas. When I tried to take it back to the other presidents, that's something we talked about. But it's really about TV markets and how much media companies value your brand."
