The difference between Boise and Colorado is that the Pac 10 has actually invited Colorado (Colorado's regents voted 5-4 back then to take a rain check), and Boise has absolutely no chance of ever being even considered by the Pac. Boise isn't on the grid, Colorado is desired by the Pac 10. I'm surprised that distinction is lost on some of you.

BTW, according to 3D, the Pac 10 is very big on counting up NC's from whatever sport.

Why don't you read the article. The article, which claims to be based on some fairly extensive research, identifies a number of reasons Colorado would leave the Big 12 for the Pac 10. Among them is closer geographical affinity. Colorado, is after all, a western not a midwestern or southwestern state. It's in the Rockies. Accordingly, many more Colorado alumni live in places like LA, Phoenix and Seattle than Lawrence or Austin or even Dallas. Does that surprise anyone? Colorado travels much better when it plays the Pac 10 than the Big 12 even now. There is the West Coast's glitzy big cities, better weather. A big factor is Colorado perceives its academic peers to be in the Pac 10 not the Big 12. Finally, the Big 12 hasn't been working out of Colorado for a while, and it may be ready for a change.

This article also highlights something else I've noticed. The only place you ever read about BYU maybe going to the Big 12 to replace Colorado is on the BYU boards. I see no interest in BYU from the Big 12. If someone has a source that says otherwise, please enlighten me.

Speaking of lost distinctions, that's pretty funny that you feel the need to explain the difference between CU and BSU.

CU may be a good pick, but the decision won't be based on the fact that they have a ski team.

          :bsflag:

When did you start reading anything to form an opinion?

So CU is a better fit because the hippies on the hill will get along better with hippies in the Bay Area and Eugene than rednecks in the midwest? And nicer cities and better weather?

All of these tangential arguments are silly. In the end it comes down to money and prestige. What does the Pac-10 offer CU that the Big 12 doesn't? I just don't see the benefits for CU to leave.

Mind you, this is not the same as the Pac-10 wanting CU.

And BYU going to the Big 12 has nothing to do with this so why that was a pertinent aside is lost on me.

I agree it comes down to money and prestige, which is why it's inconceivable Colorado would turn down the Pac 10 at this point. I promise you prestige in a larger more holistic sense is more important than which conference might be considered better in football right now (I'm not sure the BIg 12 would win that argument either). If you don't think that Colorado feeling more connected to Pac 10 cities translates into money, well, you just don't get it.

Wow. You're right. That argument was so persuasive that I too now find it inconceivable for Colorado to turn down an invite to the Pac-10.

Really, I could see CU accepting the invite, if only to get out of the Big 12 as some sort of ctrl-alt-del restart for their abysmal programs.

ctrl+alt+del would only bring up the Task Manager for their abysmal programs. It wouldn't restart them.

Does anyone know when this imminent expansion invite will arrive? I know that Pitt to the Big 10 was a done deal last month...

                    No. You DON'T get it.

How Colorado teams happen to be doing in this snapshot in time will have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with whether the Pac 10 extends its invite, or Colorado accepts.

Your first clue should be that no big conference wants BYU.

We should expect one a week from today since the NCAA ski championships wrap up on Saturday. I think the presidents are waiting to see how CU does first. They should do well since they're this year's host.

There you go talking about your favorite team again.

Why didn't CU accept that last invitation? And what has changed since then that makes it inconceivable that CU would decline the invitation again? Have the regents on the board changed? Has CU been banging their head on the wall with regret since they last said no?

My guess is that Colorado's bags are already packed. It is no secret that the University is unhappy playing schools like Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska. It is pretty obvious that it wants out of that dead-end nightmare, esp in light of the fact that the P10 currently has no lucrative conference network TV deal in place.

                            My sources say: yes.
